YOUNG GUNS LIKE WOOD GUNS, TOO

WHAT IS A CCQ?

Im an avid fan of G&A and frearms in general. One thing I

hate is stereotypes. I am 15 years old, and every time I walk
into our local gun shop with my dad and ask to see a rife, I
get funny looks because Im asking to see a wood-stocked
rife. Yes, I like the AR platform and its versatility and the AK
for its reliability, but I love the look and feel of old walnutstocked rifes. For my 15th birthday, I asked for a Russian
Mosin-Nagant M91/30 (which I got) and bought a Spam can
of ammo at a gun show. I love shooting it. Right now, Im
currently saving for an old, broken M1 Garand to fx (I want
to be a gunsmith) and add to my collection. My grandfather
spoke highly of this gun when he was in the Navy. There
are still some teenagers who appreciate handmade work. I
consider them art. Im sick

Patrick Sweeneys article

on the Walther CCP in the
November issue has some
major faws. Im sure youve
already been blasted about
it, but it does need to be
mentioned that the PPQ
is incorrectly referred to as
the CCQ on more than
one occasion throughout the article. Who was
supposed to be proofng
this article? Were they on
vacation?

Im disappointed to admit
that you are correct, sir.
On two occasions, in the
same paragraph on page
62, the article refers to the
Walther PPQ as the CCQ.
However, we did not fnd
this mistake anywhere else.
I will not cast blame on anyone. This error should have
been caught several times
through G&As editing
process, and I will publish
a correction. No excuses.
Thank you for keeping us
sharp. E. Poole

Assault rife is a description that makes most gun

owners cringe, but in the aftermath of Operation Desert
Storm the phrase was quite
popularly used to categorize
modern sporting rifes. This
G&A special-interest publication cost $3.95 and highlighted military small arms
and AK clones and debated
the viability of the M16 as a
combat rife. Former G&A
editor Kevin Steele took an
in-depth look at the HK G11
and considered advancements in ammunition.
Other features in the
magazine pitted battlefeld
legends in a shootout including the HK G3 versus the FN
FAL, the CAR-15 versus the
Galil and, perhaps the most
debated grudge match, the
M16 versus the AK47.
