Project Management - Insurance Products (Consultant Specialist)

This is a project management position. You will be helping Kaiser Permanente deliver new insurance
products and capabilities to the marketplace.
We are seeking a highly seasoned, self-motivated and results-driven IT Professional who can make it
happen no matter what challenges are encountered along the way. An "outside the box" thinker who will
always find creative ways to lead the project management work on complex IT Projects in the health plan
products areas.
The ideal candidate will be a thought partner to internal business partners, information technology
professionals and vendors. This is a technology position, but requires a strong business-focused
background.
Responsibilities:

Reports to the Director KPIT Products Sub Portfolio

Coordinating the delivery of multiple projects

Developing cost benefit analyses for the program

Communicating to senior executives

Allocating resources across the multiple projects

Defining project governance policies and managing the financial concerns of the
program.

Status gathering and reporting from the various development teams


Schedule management development and execution progress
Risk evaluation and Issues resolution
Estimate gathering and tracking actual work against estimates (burn rate)
Setting up meetings to review status, deliverables, and obtain SOX compliant sign off

Coordinate with other project managers and Solutions Design & Consulting staff to
identify cross-project dependencies

Basic/Minimum Qualifications:

PMP Certified

A BA/BS in any field or equivalent years of work experience.

6-10 years of progressive IT or related business functional experience, with demonstrated


success in software development/configuration, design and implementation of software applications preferably in health plans or managed care organizations.

Excellent MS Project skills

Excellent oral and written communications skills.


Excellent problem solving and "decision making" skills.

Demonstrated success working in a matrix team environment for a large organization

Self Motivated, Independent work capability

Results orientation - Demonstrated ability to execute in a fast paced environment.

Must be flexible and have the ability to work in a complex and constantly changing environment.
Travel may be up to 25% during certain periods.

Preferred Qualifications

2-5 years experience with Kaiser Permanente systems and processes

BS degree with a concentration in Computer Science or equivalent

Candidate should have a solid understanding of Health Plan business and systems in a specific
area or areas (e.g., membership, benefits, claims, pricing/underwriting, call centers, etc.) along
with technology acumen particularly in system and application architecture.
5+ years prior consulting experience (internal/external) with an emphasis on delivery of complex
enterprise solutions and experience.
