Date of inspection:
03-24-2011, at Corporacin Minera Dominicana Mine,
Maimn, Dominican Republic.

2. Description
As required by the customer, a visual, NDT testing (ACFM technique) to the welds
and ultrasonic thickness measurement was performed.
Drawings and information about nominal thickness were not supplied.
3. Objetives
The examination is designed to localize the presence of relevant discontinuities (such
as cracks, corrosion, or other damage forms) that could endanger the component
soundness.
The acceptance criteria is customer decision.

5. Applied Methods
5.1.
Visual Inspection (VT)
Superficial damage verification, detection of superficial discontinuities on
critical areas, component modifications.etc.
Photographic records of dissentings, if found.
Proccedure is under:
B& P Vessels. ASME Code 2007, Sec V, Art. 9 Visual Testing
5.2.

ACFM Inspection
Alternating Current Field Measurement technique, to determine any
superficial/sub superficial cracks along the welding lines in shell longitudinal
and circumferential welds.
Procedure is under:
B& P Vessels. ASME Code 2007, Sec V, Art. 15 Alternating Current Field
Measurement Technique.

5.3.

Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement.

Verifies abrupt change of thickness due to internal corrosion.
Procedure is under:
ASTM E-797 Standard Practice for Measuring Thickness by Manual
Ultrasonic Pulse-echo Contact Method.
