"Quick" Guide to Update ALE-L21 and get dual-sim

Read all the way before starting!!!

DISCLAIMER: This is an experimental guide! It may need adjustment! I assume NO


responsibility for any damage or loss, temporary or permanent!!!!
Just doing my best to help...
Required:
- ALE-L21 device (buy one if you don't have it) - firmware below valid for Europe version
- ALE-L21 Firmware B132
If version below B132:

01) Place UPDATE.APP from step1 folder into a dload folder on the root of the SD Card
02) Dial *#*#2846579#*#*
03) Software Upgrade -> SDCard Upgrade -> CONFIRM
04) Let upgrade do it's job
05) Wait for phone to boot
06) If prompted to auto-update, don't allow it!
07) Place UPDATE.APP from CUSTOM folder into the dload folder on the SD Card
08) Dial *#*#2846579#*#*
09) Software Upgrade -> SDCard Upgrade -> CONFIRM
10) Let upgrade do it's job
11) GO to END (below)
If version equal or above B132:

Additional requirements:
- Huawei HiSuite
- Huawei Extractor
- ADB+FLASHBOOT
- Bootloader unlock code (if not unlocked already) - get if from Huawei or use an "unlocker" to
get it (PM for one)
Phase 0 - install tools (skip this phase if you can ADB/fastboot)
00) Install Hisuite for drivers
01) Install ADB+FASTBOOT
02) Enable USB debugging:
- Settings->About phone->click several times on Build number until you get You
are now a developer
- Settings->Developer Options->USB debbuging
- Connect cable to PC
- Accept connection permanently (press OK on Allow USB debbuging prompt, checking
Always allow from this computer first)
Phase 1 - unlock bootloader (skip if bootloader unlocked):
01) Get Bootloader unlock code
02) Open Command prompt and go to the directory where adb/fastboot is installed

03) Connect well-charged phone with USB debbuging on


04) Enter fastboot mode: adb reboot bootloader
05) Check for Android with message Phone Locked
06) Unlock bootloader: fastboot oem unlock <bootcode> replacing <bootcode>
with the code you got
07) Check for Android with message Phone Unlocked
08) Return to system: fastboot reboot
09) Check phone is ok
Phase 2 - Manually flash B132 (recomend backup and wipe data, specially if rooted)
01) Open Command prompt and go to the directory where adb/fastboot is installed
02) Connect well-charged phone with USB debbuging on
03) Enter fastboot mode: 'adb reboot bootloader'
04) Extract 'Huawei Extractor" to a folder and run the executable
05) Extract the firwmare archive (ALE-L21V100R001C432B132_Europe_Dual) to a
folder
06) Run Huawei Image Extractor
07) Browse (press [...]) and select the UPDATE.APP file inside the dload folder of the
extracted firmware archive
08) Right click on the package files and do an Extract All to a folder (create one)
09) Copy the files: BOOT.img RECOVERY.img SYSTEM.img CUST.img to the directory
where adb/fastboot is installed
10) Go to the opened command prompt
11) Flash the system partition: fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img (takes quite a bit)
12) Flash the custom partition: fastboot flash cust CUST.img
13) Flash the recovery partition: fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img
14) Flash the vendor partition: fastboot flash boot BOOT.img
15) Repeat all flashes if you get any error
Phase 3 - Enable dual-sim
01) Go to Huawei Image Extractor
02) Browse (press [...]) and select the UPDATE.APP file inside the CUSTOM folder of the
extracted firwmare archive
03) Right click on the package files and do an Extract All to a folder (create one)
04) Copy the file: VENDOR.img to the dir where adb/fastboot is installed
05) Go to the opened command prompt
06) Flash the vendor partition: fastboot flash vendor VENDOR.img
07) Repeat flash if you get any error
08) Reboot phone: fastboot reboot
END(all versions):
01) Wait for phone to boot
02) Go to Settings->Dual card management
03) Enable your second SIM

04) If prompted to auto-update (and if you have the sim-card management menu!!!), feel free
allow it! (else, see notes)
NOTE1: You need your phone to be SIM-unlocked if you want to use a card from another
operator, in any SIM slot.
NOTE2: If you are bootloader unlocked, in theory, you should only need to flash the vendor
partition. But many versions delete the dual-sim package if at start the device is not dual-sim.
NOTE3: If, as a result from the previous note you did both updates using UPDATE.APP and got
no dual-sim menu, try to repeat the first update (steps 01-06 of V<B136) to restore the package.
NOTE4: If you can't reaply the updates, sorry.. manual flash
