Christ is Risen! Indeed, He is Risen!

Christos Voskres! Voistinu Voskres!

From the Fathers

St. John Chrysostom
He [Jesus] calls the salvation of men and women his food, showing his great
desire that we should be saved. His desire for our salvation is as great as our desire
for food. And see how often he so not express himself directly bur figuratively.
This necessarily makes it difficult for his hearers to comprehend his meaning, but
it also gives a greater importance to that meaning once it is understood.

• Collection for Catholic Home Mission. If you have not done so, please consider
supporting this cause. Our Eparchy is considered one of the mission eparchies and has
been supported by the US Catholic Bishops’ Conference for over 20 years. In the last
three years, we have received $85 000 annually, which is a great help for our Eparchy.
May God bless your generosity.
• Hospitality sign-up sheet: Tom Whalen (May 9). Please sign up. I would like to
thank to all who participated in pot luck lunch last two weeks, when we shared our
church with Holy Wisdom Ukrainian Parish. I hope it was a nice experience and
fellowship for all of us
• Yesterday, Saturday May 1, we had rummage sale at our parish. Total income
from this fundraiser is $ 270. May God grant many years to Tom Whalen, Ted Jansen
and cantor Gene Ford for organizing it and sacrificing their time to run it.
• Please remember in your prayers the sick and suffering members of our parish
family: Steve Klinkovsky, Metropolitan Basil Schott.
• Today, Sunday May 2, we will sing Moleben to The Holy Mother of God at
Christ the King Retreat Center in Citrus Heights (6520 Van Maren Lane). Please come
to pray with us. The prayer starts at 3:30 PM, it is outdoors (nice for families with
children). The service will last 20-30 minutes and a social with water, cookies and ice
cream will follow. We will pray the Moleben service also on May 16th and 23rd.
• For Moleben service in May, we would like to offer to those who come, bottled
water and cookies. If you can help to purchase/make some or know someone who can
help, it would be greatly appreciated.
• Bishop’s Appeal 2010 update: The goal for our parish is $4200; we have
collected $1920, so we still have a long way to go ($2280). Bishop’s appeal ends on
May 31st, if we reach our goal, a portion of our collection (30%) will come back to our
parish.
