HOMIES: THE HISTORY OF THE HOMIES

"Cruise on a trip through my memories of drawing lowriders and tees, of creating Homies for
the last thirty-five years. A pictorial narrative of one artist following his dreams..."
Created by David Gonzales, the Homies first appeared as an underground comic strip that
debuted in Lowrider Magazine in 1978, a reflection of his friends and lifestyle. At first a
group of tightly knit Chicano buddies from East Los Angeles, the Homies expanded their
crew to over 300 characters from all different cultures, genres, and even species. In an
inner-city world plagued by poverty and oppression, they formed a strong, binding cultural
support system that enabled them to overcome negativity and turn to laughter and good times
as an antidote for reality.
Homies erupted as a mainstream sensation in 1994 when trend-savvy retailer Hot Topic
offered Homies shirts for sale, rapidly becoming popular with the youth market. Following on
the heels of a successful T-shirt run, Homies was licensed for figurines in the vending
machine toy industry, where all sales records were broken, with over 150 million figurines
sold worldwide. The licensing program soon spread to products such as action figures,
remote-control and die-cast cars, notebooks, posters, plush, Halloween masks, video games,
music, and more, carried by specialty and mass retailers everywhere.
History of the Homies is a triumphant celebration of the turbulent times, remarkable artistry,
and youthful street culture of a pop culture phenomenon, including hundreds of pictures and a
complete guide to Homies figurines.

KEY SELLING POINTS:

surrounding negativity, allowing for laughter and good times as an antidote to reality. As

REANIMATOR

Dr. Herbert West, The Reanimator, returns! Setting up shop in New Orleans, the brilliant Dr.
West continues his life's work: the revival of the dead by purely chemical means. To
accomplish this task, he recruits Susan Greene, a young and wide-eyed pharmacologist
fascinated by his macabre experiments. Initially unfazed by West's unorthodox practices
(including how he funds his research - by selling zombie brain fluid as a narcotic), Susan may
regret her scientific curiosity as sinister forces - those aligned with Elder Gods and Haitian
Voodoo - begin to align against the Reanimator. Dynamite Entertainment proudly resurrects
H.P Lovecraft's notorious mad scientist in a fear-fraught tale of Cthulhu tentacle terror and
backwater Louisianan superstition!
Bonus features include a thorough "History of The Reanimator" prose introduction by writer
Keith Davidsen, an insightful and meticulously researched appendix of Lovecraftian

CORTO MALTESE: THE ETHIOPIAN

Nominated for both the Eisner and Harvey Awards for Best Foreign Language Publication!
When Corto Maltese arrives in the Middle East and Africa in 1918 the shifting sands and
loyalties reveal colonial powers still battling for domination over each other and the
indigenous people. The desert of Yemen, controlled by the fading Ottoman Empire, is the
setting for In the Name of Allah, the Merciful and Compassionate, where Corto meets
Cush, the Danikil warrior with whom he establishes a close yet conflicted relationship. In
The Coup de Grace the stubborn racism of an English commander of a small fort in British
Somaliland leads to conflict with Cush and the Dervish army of Sayyid Mohamed, whom the
British call The Mad Mullah. The action moves to Ethiopia amidst inter-tribal conflict in
and of Other Romeos and Other Juliets, as Cush introduces Corto to the mysterious and
powerful shaman Shamael, who hears the voices of the dead and of devils. German East
Africa is the background of The Leopard-Men of the Rufiji, where Corto is engulfed in a
dreamlike atmosphere that reveals how African justice operates outside the constraints of
white law.

LOAC ESSENTIALS PRESENTS KING

FEATURES VOLUME 2: TIM TYLER'S
LUCK 1933

These never-before-collected strips represent an essential transition point that would forever
change the direction of adventure comics. Lyman Youngs Tim Tylers Luck was a
successful series set in exotic locales before Alex Raymond signed on as Youngs assistant.
Its in these 1932-1933 strips, as Raymond assumed greater and greater responsibility for the
drawing, that he developed the prototypes for Flash Gordon, Dale Arden, and Jungle Jim, and
the style for which he became famous a year later.
LOAC Essentials reprints, in yearly volumes, the daily newspaper strips that are essential to
comics history, seminal strips that are unique creations in their own right, while also
significantly contributing to the advancement of the medium. The strips are reproduced one
per page, giving readers an immersive experience, similar to the one newspapers readers had
many decades agoreading the comics one day at a time.

Red Barry was one of the most visually innovative adventure strips of the mid-1930s,
combining fluid brushwork and noir shadows (in bold blues and purples) with figures that
were constantly in motion, plus a level of violence that brought cries of protest from its
syndicate. Red Barry and Secret Agent X-9 were King Features answers to the Tribune
Syndicates popular Dick Tracy by Chester Gould. While X-9 continued for decades under
hands of various quality, Red Barry by Will Gould (no relation to Chester) was an auteurs
vision that lasted less than four years (primarily because Gould couldnt meet his deadlines).
Regardless, it is today considered one of comics historys great unsung masterpieces, one
which famed mystery writer Anthony Boucher said was the only detectives stripworthy of
any consideration from my scholarly viewpoint. This two-volume series will reprint the
complete dailies and color Sundays.

WALT DISNEY'S TREASURY OF CLASSIC

TALES VOLUME 1

From the early 1950s through the late 80s, the Disney studio created Sunday comics
adaptations of more than 120 of their animated and live-action films that were currently in
movie theaters. The chronological all-star line-up in this first volume is an almost
embarrassment of riches: the animated Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, Peter and the Wolf,
and two precursers to the series, Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland! The live-action
adaptations are: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Robin Hood, The Sword and the Rose, Ben
and Me, and Rob Roy. Disney stalwarts Manuel Gonzales and Dick Moores drew the cartoon
adaptations, while the live-action stories were illustrated by legendary Tarzan artist Jesse
Marsh!

writer Tom Fowler in collaboration with series artist CJ Cannon in a three-issue tale of
missing heads, galactic doom toasters, and Jerry screwing everything up (of course). Also
included is "Ready Player Morty," in which Rick takes Morty to a High School Simulation
planet, by writer Pamela Ribon and artist Marc Ellerby, as well as a high-action deathball
tournament one-shot written and drawn by Tom Fowler. Come for the jokes, stay for the
soul-crushing ennui.

KEY SELLING POINTS:

"Rick and Morty, the unlikely pair at the heart of the hit Adult Swim cartoon, happily bring
their signature blend of brainy sci-fi and surreal, warped mayhem to print. When dissolute
genius Rick builds a device to predict the future of the stock market, he and his bumbling
teenage grandson, Morty, hit the big time. But time cops catch on to their scheme, and they're
sentenced to prison in a tortuous labyrinth. That's a tidy metaphor for most Rick and Morty
plots, since Rick has his fingers in just about every parallel universe, so moments of
sentimentality can easily turn on a dime with an interdimensional leap (and a knowing wink
ro the reader), hurtling hapless Morty in myriad disorienting directions. Though readers
unfamiliar with the show might be thrown off by the idiosyncratic speech style, it's a
pitch-perfect replica of the voice actors' performances, and the artwork, full of exaggerated
cartoon shapes and grotesque creatures, expertly mimics the animation. With intelligent plots
and lowbrow jokes aplenty, this is tailor-made for older teens." - Booklist
"Bottom line, if you love the show, youll love the comic, and if youve never watched the
show, this debut issue will make you want to run out and buy the DVDs as soon as you are

A&A: THE ADVENTURES OF ARCHER &

ARMSTRONG VOL. 1: IN THE BAG

GET SMASHED...OR BE SMASHED!

Meet Armstrong: Since the ancient city of Ur, this immortal adventurer has spent the last
7,000 years drinking and carousing his way through history alongside some of the greatest
merrymakers the world has ever known.
Meet Archer: A sheltered teenage martial arts master and expert marksman that was raised for
a single purpose - to kill the devil incarnate. Little did he know that this undying evil was
actually Armstrong (he's actually a pretty good guy...once you get to know him) and, since
hitting the road together, the two have become great friends and even better partners.
Now: Archer is about to set off on his most dangerous mission yet - a quest into the mystic
reaches of Armstrong's bottomless satchel to liberate his friend and comrade from the clutches
of the mad god Bacchus! (Okay, so, Armstrong went into the satchel himself to get a bottle of
whiskey that he kinda misplaced and got stuck. It's like the Amazon warehouse of arcane
treasures in there...and he doesn't exactly have a maid service.)
Imprisoned in Armstrong's satchel for centuries, Bacchus now commands a legion of
monsters, goblins and golems bent on escaping back into the world of man and enacting
revenge on their captor... Can Archer single-handedly combat the godly embodiment of
intoxication himself - and rescue his best buddy - without becoming lost amongst Armstrong's
endless repository of bizarre artifacts and historical oddities in the process?
From red-hot rising star Rafer Roberts (Plastic Farm) and superstar artist David Lafuente
(Ultimate Spider-Man), Valiant's next blockbuster series starts here!

YAMADA MONOGATARI: THE EMPEROR

IN SHADOW

THE NOVEL DEEMED TOO DANGEROUS TO BE PUBLISHED IN AMERICA--IS

FINALLY PUBLISHED IN AMERICA!
OSAMA THE GUN, set in a not-so-far future when the "Sons of Osama" have established a
powerful Islamic Caliphate with Pakistani nuclear weapons and Arabian oil money, is the
story of one of those "sons" of the martyr, a naive and sincere young man who becomes a
Caliphate secret agent to escape its closed confines and see the world -- and finds himself
becoming the reluctant hero of the title.
Osama the Gun becomes a terrorist leader on a small scale by happenstance, a mercenary used
by Islamic forces fighting an American proxy invasion in the oil lands of Nigeria, an iconic
figure in the manner of "El Che." All the while he charms the reader as a likable, sincere,
idealistic, and sympathetic human doing very unsympathetic things to the interests of the
United States of America.
"I wanted the reader to hate the sin, but love the sinner, because I felt it had to be done, and
since no one else seemed to be willing to do it, I had to try to do it myself, come what may.
Because Islam was being confused with its radical Middle Eastern jihadhis, and Arabs in
general with terrorists, and it seemed to me that the alien jihadhist consciousness had to be
experienced from within and empathetically understood. Which was why OSAMA THE GUN
had to be written, and why, as one foaming at the mouth rejection letter predicted, no
American publisher would touch this book." -- Norman Spinrad

PATHFINDER ADVENTURE PATH: CURSE

OF THE CRIMSON THRONE

After escaping from the waking nightmare of Briarstone Asylum, the former captives venture
to the dismal town of Thrushmoor to unravel the enigma of their lost memories. Upon arrival,
the adventurers discover that the towns leadership has either fled town or gone missing, and
a rash of kidnappings and rumors of the Briarstone Witch spread terror through the people of
Thrushmoor. As the adventurers investigate the unsettling mysteries, they uncover a secretive
cult who plans to use Thrushmoors ancient monuments to grow their strength and power.
Will the adventurers discover the secret to their affliction and find an answer in an uninviting
town, or will they fall victim to the ruthless cult that wants to slay the people of Thrushmoor
as a sacrifice?
The Thrushmoor Terror is a Pathfinder Roleplaying Game adventure for 4th-level

Pathfinder Adventure Path.
Each monthly full-color softcover Pathfinder Adventure Path volume contains an in-depth

Masters additional material to expand their campaign. Pathfinder Adventure Path volumes use
