Miss Suriza had given us an assignment which is unusual because our assignment is
based on a trip. She had taken effort to bring us to Forest Institute Research Malaysia (FRIM).
We planned this trip few month before. The trip was held in the 1 March 2016 and we are totally
100 above of student participant in this trip which is as our assignment task. On that day we are
given 2 task in the trip. The first is Nature Walk and second is Treasure Hunt. When we arrived
at the FRIM, we are divided into 5 group each group has 20 to 25 members. Each group given
one guider. Our group guider name is Mr. Wan.
Lets start with the introduction with Forest Institute Research Malaysia (FRIM). The
FRIM or Forest Research Institute of Malaysia is a must visit for all nature lovers who are
looking for a short escape from the bustling metropolitan. It is approximately 13km north west of
Kuala Lumpur City centre in Kepong. This 600 hectares of tropical forest contains a wealth of
flora and fauna with approximately 15,000 species of plants. Has its own official mosque but is
the local headquarters for research in forests and timber utilisation. As we enter FRIM, we feel
amazed by the numerous interesting trails and nature activities such as camping, birdwatching,
jungle trekking, picnics near the waterfall, cycling, visiting the Insect house and herbal botanical
garden as well as jogging and nature photography. The FRIM provides the opportunity for
visitors to learn more about the forest and at the same time to relax and refresh themselves with
the unpolluted environment..
Our second task is treasure hunt, we are divided into 5 in a group, it was a nice and our
first experience in this kind of treasure hunt, we are given few question in this task, the
questions is regarding the nature walk that had been brief by the guider. This treasure hunt had
teach us a lot of thing such as team work, how to react faster for get the answer and many
more. in the end of the treasure hunt we are totally tired and take some rest before heading to
waterfall nearby the FRIM. At the waterfall we release our stress by playing with our friend and
snap a lot of picture to make it as a memory. A day after the trip to FRIM, Miss Suriza announce
the winners for the treasure hunt, we are totally surprised because we get fourth place in the
treasure hunt out of 23 group.
In our closing, we think that this type of trip should held in all collage and universities to
build up an extra knowledge about nature and also tightens the relationship with other
classmates and lecturer.
