1.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this procedure is to prepared guidelines / method of
completing formwork as per specification and good workmanship.

GSPL Specification. 1019 162 204

3.

SCOPE
This procedure covers fixing and removing of formwork with necessary
supports system including checking and removal and checking of
formwork.
MATERIAL
Only GSPL approved steel shuttering plate, Ply board, clamps, jacks
Acrow spans, Scaffolding pipes, nails, bellies, planks, battens, shuttering
oil of approved quality.
METHOD
Before erection of formwork, all the plates will be cleaned to remove any
concrete/nails or any other foreign material.

Approved shuttering oil shall be applied as release agent before

reinforcement steel is placed.

5.3

Depending upon types of formwork required (i.e. Rough / wrought / Lined

at particular location) accordingly formwork will be made to the exact
dimensions with the allowable tolerances to meet the requirements of
design and surface finish.

5.4

When chamfers are to be formed, the fillets shall be cut accurately to

correct size so as to provide smooth and continuous chamfer.

5.5

For heavy concrete sections like beam / slab etc. proper size timber / steel
at required spacing shall be provided to take the design loads / pressure.

5.6

All the spacing members shall have proper bearing at supports.

5.7

Proper staging will be provided in order to place formwork at locations and

to facilitate de shuttering.

5.8

After placing of formwork, line, level, plumb and dimensions will be

checked and kept within the permissible limits.

The Joints in the form work shall be sufficiently tight to prevent any
leakage of slurry or mortar.

5.10

Polythene sheet / Bitumen paper of approved makes shall be used for

prevention of leakage through joints.

5.11

In case of formwork for columns, one side shall be left open and built up in
sections progressively as placing of concrete is continued.

5.12

In structures having floors, proper prop supports are given.

5.13

Casting of concrete will start after the inspection.

5.14

The necessary safe access to inspect the formworks has to be provided.

5.15

Formwork components shall be removed is such a manner that no

vibrating damage shall be done to the structure.

5.16

After removal of formwork, material will be cleaned immediately and

stocked properly for reuse.

6.0

TOLERANCE
The tolerances on the shapes, lines and dimensions shown in the drawing
shall be within the limits given below.
