Message from the Board of Directors

This special spiritual refuge we all know as Kathok Centre was
an aspiration of one dedicated couple, the Ayers, wanting to
make a home for their teacher, V.V. Lingtrul Rinpoche. After
founding the Society in 1995, 22 years later Lingtrul Rinpoche
now calls Kathok Centre one of his homes!

The six of us on the Kathok Board of Directors volunteer our

time and resources to enable Lingtrul Rinpoche to keep
spreading the Dharma: an ancient proven pathway to
enlightenment for all interested and dedicated students. We are
honored to serve our Teacher and help create the causes of
happiness for all sentient beings!

Spiritual Practices and Special Events Continuing this year, some of our regular practitioners,
who have been trained by Lingtrul Rinpoche and Tulku Karzang, volunteered to facilitate regular
practices in the Main Temple and Golden Shrine according to the tradition of this lineage and following
the lunar calendar. These include introductory open meditation classes, Ngondro, Green Tara, Guru
Rinpoche Tsok and Guru Yoga practice/kora (walking meditation). While Karzang Rinpoche was in
residence in April and May 2015, he offered Tara and Phowa Teachings.
In June 2015 Lingtrul Rinpoche was in residence and was joined by three of his dedicated students
who travelled from Iron Knot Ranch Dharma Centre in Arizona USA to paint the exterior of the Golden
Shrine golden. All the regular sangha and members at Kathok Centre were inspired and amazed by the
efforts of travel, expense and long hard days spent working to complete the project. Thanks to these
three inspired students we now have an even more beautiful exterior to the Golden Shrine and a daily
reminder of the heart warming feeling of the energy of devotion.
In February 2016 Lingtrul Rinpoche graciously offered 3 weekends of consecutive teachings on
Introduction to Buddhism. This was the first time we were able to have a Tibetan-English translator
present via Skype to make the teachings accessible for everyone. We are very appreciative of Lingtrul
Rinpoches translator from Tashi Choling, Oregon to make this possible.

Upcoming Special Events include a traditional 3 day Vajrasattva Practice to be led by the Very
Venerable Lingtrul Rinpoche, with assistance from Umzed (Chant leader) and Chopin/ attendant from
Tashi Choling, Oregon. It will include the Vajrasattva Empowerment. For more details see website.

1 and 2 day Silent Meditation

Retreats were offered in February,
April, July and November 2015,
and February and May 2016. In
attendance were an average of 30
people enjoying the refreshing,
recharging effects of seated,
walking and mantra meditation.

Happy Festival
The first annual Happy Festival
was October 3, 2015. It was a
beautiful, sunny, early fall day
with 18 vendors present
offering all sort of wares and
experiences, helping to keep us
happy and balanced.
Offerings to enjoy included:
many local artisans, massages,
meditation, musicians, tarot
card readings, yoga inversion
swing and many fun kids games!
We look forward to the
Happy Fest 2016!

Lama Sonam returned from Nepal to

paint, apply gold leaf and finish the art
work on the statues in the Golden
Shrine and Main Temple. We are very
appreciative of his beautiful work!

Yoga at Kathok Centre began May 2016.

Every Sunday at 10am May through September in the
Tent. Thank you to our generous donor who purchased
the tent and makes this and many other opportunities
possible and the 4 yoga teachers volunteering their time
and knowledge.
