Dr.

Hayes Wicker, Senior Pastor

May Gladness

Anyone living in the United States in the month of March

will hear the term, March Madness, which speaks of the
exciting basketball tournaments to determine the NCAA
Champion. Janet and I were privileged to be the guests of
good friends at the 1989 Final Four in Seattle. Dr. Neal had
somehow gotten great seats, not only for the mens games
but also for the Womens Final Four in Tacoma. I was grateful
that the famous center, Bill Walton, sat in a seat behind me
and not in front of me! It was an exciting overtime finish for
Michigan over Seton Hall.

Renee Blain

Director of Preschool Ministry Candidate

With joy and thankfulness, we introduce Renee Blain as

our candidate for Director of Preschool Ministry. Renee,
along with her family, is here this weekend in view of a
call. Renee comes to us from First Baptist Temple Terrace
where she has served for the past five years as Director
of Preschool Ministries. Renee is married to Wally and
has two teenage daughters, Allie and Abbie.

FBCN Constitution and Bylaws

Review Meeting
Sunday, June 5

We come together as Christs Team. I trust that it is not about the coaches,
though the pastors and directors of ministry are certainly important. We are
to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the Body of Christ
(Ephesians 4:12). However, we are grateful for gifted coaches who are called
by God to this arena of service. Please be in prayer for Renee Blain, who is
with us this weekend in view of a call as Director of Preschool Ministry. God will
confirm the work of His hands as we vote by ballot.

You are invited to attend a meeting to discuss the

amended FBCN Constitution and Bylaws which will be
held on Sunday, June 5, at 5:00pm in the Chapel.

This could also be called May Gladness as our season ends and the summer
begins. Three important events are about to take place. In the culmination of
months of study, we offer an up-to-date Constitution and Bylaws of our church.
Copies are available. It describes what God has been doing and how we believe
that we should function as a local church. It has been over 23 years since the
last document was written. It has been carefully worded, discussed by deacons,
and reviewed by two outstanding Christian attorneys. A vote will take place
June 22. For those interested in asking questions, an open forum will be offered
June 5 at 5:00pm in the Chapel.

Beginning June 8, we will meet for 12 weeks each

Wednesday from 6:30-8:00pm in the Worship Center.
There will be testimonies, ministry highlights, fellowship,
music, humor, Bible study, prayer, and desserts. There
are also three special family nights (kindergarten and up):
June 15-Improv Comedy Group "Strangers and Fools",
July 6-Inspirational Movie Night, and August 3-Family
Sports Challenges.

We are following the existing Constitutional requirement of a months notice. You

will be aware that the doctrinal statement is broad, biblically based, and includes
a wide variety of basic beliefs. This was adopted by the entire Southern Baptist
Convention in the year 2000, having been updated from the 1963 version.
There are many significant matters in the Constitution which deals with: polity
and relationships, covenant behavior, church membership, discipline, pastoral
leadership, deacon ministry, officers, committees, and legal requirements.

Sunday, July 3

If you would like to make your public profession of faith

in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at the beautiful Gulf
of Mexico, please sign-up at the Connection Point in the
Commons, or contact Linda at 596-8600 x280.

The Wednesday program for adults this summer, WeFit Wednesdays, begins
June 8. It will be a time of true Body Life, as we laugh, learn, and pray together.
A brief Bible study will help us to strengthen each other in the Body of Christ. We
will enjoy testimonies, desserts, and various kinds of wholesome entertainment.
Special nights to allow for fun and fellowship are scheduled. The Body grows as
it builds itself up in love (Ephesians 4:16). Lets cheer for the Home Team and
win Christ (Philippians 3:8)!
