First nose piercing and my first nose pin

A post to get my friends who are interested to get nose piercings done but was s
cared to get it done thinking of the pain. I hope its an inspirational post . Al
ready got many messages on the same and have replied in bits and pieces but this
is the whole story :).
I wanted to get nose pierced from quite a long time :). I hate painful procedure
s and even shaping my eye brows at beauty parlour brings so much tears that beau
tician always asks me if I am getting it done for the first time . That s my relat
ion with those pains.
I always tell that I have suffered pain only for both my deliveries which was no
rmal. So all can imagine the hungama I created at the labour room . Doctor and n
urse would have surely felt to push me out ;). At-least that suffering was for s
omething require. But suffering pain for something which adds to beauty, no way
, it was totally out of question. So tattoo, nose pin, extra ear pierce all were
cut off from my thoughts though I loved each one of them :)
So after my dengue, I was feeling low and was feeling dead bored of life. One da
y while talking to my ex-roomie Sahana, she sends me a snap of her nose pierced
with a pretty nose pin. Wow, I just loved the effect. Then during the mural work
shop, saw my friend s
Deepa and Midhu s nose piercings. So finally decided to get it
done.
Traditional or Gunshot?
-------------------------------Read reviews on sites and few pages on the perfect way to get the nose pierced.
It seems nose is a very sensitive organ and nose pierce causes nerve damage and
severe infection which lasts for a year or more. Many have suggested traditional
piercing instead of gunshot as gunshot has 95% chance of getting infection. So
I checked out the places in Bangalore where traditional piercing is done. It see
ms there are a lot of goldsmiths in the by lanes of Commercial street where any
type of piercings are done along with tattoos. But then I wanted to go to a reli
able source. While checking a group page, found few moms mentioning about painle
ss traditional piercing by Krishna Chetty Jewellers. They do have 3 branches at
Bangalore. I decided to go to Commercial street branch.
Painless ?? really ??
-----------------------------By now, you would have understood that painless is not really painless . Yes, I
did mean it
painless electrolysis is not painless at all, painless piercing is n
ot painless, whatever you say painless, don t forget that our body is not a log or
stone, it does have emotions and feelings on its own .There is a pain always as
they are doing something with our skin even when they apply an ointment to numb
the area which is supposed to reduce pain for few but not for all.
The day I booked my appointment to the day I went, I was really tensed. I would
have asked Dileep and Sandra at least 100 times on whether it s good to get pierce
d or whether it will be painless. Sandra wanted a second stud piercing but looki
ng at me she was getting worried. I didn t want her to get a negative thought and
wanted her to believe and stay with any decisions we make in life, whatever toug
h the path may be. Dileep is scared of anything related to piercings. So he aske
d me many times on whether I would really want to have this . Once I decide, I n
ever back out, so though I had fear in my mind, I decided to go with my own wish
My D Day
-------------------Finally the D day came, I got up early and made sure everyone got ready and went
to commercial street branch. The lady in charge of piercings asked me to come i
nside and put me in a cellar type of room, the only jail type gate opening is to
inside the shop and other opening is to toilets .I guess they really designed t
his piercing room in such a way that none will run out . There was a full view m
irror on one side of the room and other side had all small equipment s required fo
r piercing along with alcohol swabs. She told me the procedure They will pierce
using golden threads so we have to purchase golden thread before we start. The c

ost of golden thread was around 1200/- and the piercing charges around 1000/-. O
nce we make payments, she will bring the golden thread (a thin thread of gold wi
th one side shaped as small ball and other side as pointed end) and kept it dipp
ed in alcohol solution to sterilize. Then asked me to sit on a chair and she app
lied an ointment on nose and asked me to wait for 30 minutes.
Now that 30 minutes felt like a year for me. Time was not moving. But then I mad
e a self-realization that I have grown 5 times bigger in size, yes yes horizonta
lly . The full view mirror was showing all the faults I had. I was angry at firs
t as I was not ready to accept it, but then that s the truth . So rest 25 minutes,
I was deciding on how to reduce my weight and what all I need to get back my ol
d self. Now the time went super-fast and she was here to start the piercing. Sh
e asked me which nose I would love to get pierced. I was like whichever is looki
ng good, she told there is not much difference and decided for the left nose. S
he marked a point and asked me to check. What do I know? I told okay
I closed my eyes as I didn t want to see the needle . She took the thread and imme
diately pierced it. Ohhh my, I saw all the stars and planets ehh . It was painfu
l, really but it happened in a second. Then she started pulling the thread. It w
as paining more. She twisted it like a circle around the hole and left it there.
Tears were rolling off and she gave me many tissues. I think it was tears of jo
y . Now she gave me a card with the steps on how to take care along with medicat
ion. I bought an extra stone nose pin from there so I diverted my mind to its se
lection. It was paining for 4 days. She told me to come after a month for replac
ing the ring with new nose pin.
We are supposed to buy the ointment and alcohol swabs from medical shop and clea
n the area for 10 days and apply. I did apply for 5 days, then I got bored of th
e ring . I cut it off myself- all my jewellery work tools came to use . I couldn
't put the new nose pin as hole was not big enough. Dileep was like I always has
ten things up as I don t have patience to wait, both my kids were premature babies
and came out fast than the required time . So this time too he was reluctant to
take me to the shop to put the nose pin but then he did. So next day I went to
Malabar gold, bought a little thinner nose pin and asked their goldsmith to put
it for me. It did pain but he did it super-fast .I was a happy soul with my new
super cute stone nose pin.
What did such a small nose pin do to me
--------------------------------------------------------Nose pin is such a small thing but it did bring me back my lost confidence. It d
id make me feel energized for the life ahead and overall it did cover the faults
on my face to a good extend I did love my change and next in my line is a tatt
oo. I am really scared now, but I will surely get it soon
