PRESS RELEASE – RESULTS FOR Q2FY09

HLH GROUP LTD EXPANDS AGRIBUSINESS IN CAMBODIA TO

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF RISING WORLD DEMAND FOR
AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS

SINGAPORE, 7 August 2009 – Mainboard- listed HLH Group Limited today

reported that its agri-business division is proceeding well with its expansion.

In March 2009, its wholly owned subsidiary - HLH Agri (Cambodia) Company Limited
(“HLH Agri”), entered into a contract with the Cambodia’s Ministry of Environment to
develop 9,985 hectares concession lands located at Oral Mountain at Kampong
Speu, Cambodia for its corn plantation business.

The entire investment for this corn plantation project is estimated at US$30.5 million.
The Group has started land clearing on the concession lands and is expected to
commence corn plantation progressively from 1Q FY2010.

In addition to these concession lands, HLH Group had entered into a Sales and
Purchase agreement (“S&P”) in June 2008 to acquire 1,791 hectares of freehold
land located in Amlang Commune, Thpong District, Kampong Speu, Cambodia of
which 450 hectares have been completed.

During 2Q2009, the Group has already started planting corn on the 450 hectares of
freehold land while the building of the first farm facility with the corn drying,
processing and storage plant are also close to completion.

Commenting on the Group’ significant investments in Cambodia, Dato Johnny Ong,

HLH’s Executive Deputy Chairman said, “We strongly believe that Cambodia is the
next leading edge for agricultural production as it offers stimulating prospects for
setting up plantations and integrated agri-business operations. HLHI therefore aims
to be ahead of the curve by taking an early position in plantation development in
Cambodia which has vast tracts of arable land for plantation development. We can
also benefit from the Cambodian Government’s push in adopting agriculture
development as its priority and this sector shares a big percentage in the Country’s
Gross Domestic Product amongst garment and textile sector, tourism sector, and
construction sector. We are also able to take advantage of the Cambodian
government’s incentives for agri- business investments as a priority development to

provide employment for the local population and to raise their living and productivity
standards. “

The Group’s corn plantation business is not expected to contribute significantly to its
financial results in the current financial year

In its latest 1H2009 results, the Group reported a 50.8% drop in turnover to $5.5
million and a net loss of S$2.9 million.

Group’s turnover fell owing to the lower contributions from both its Agriculture
Division and Property Division.

Overall, net loss of the Group has increased to $2.9 million in 1H2009 compared to
$0.2 million in 1H2008 mainly attributable to the reduction in gross profit and other
income coupled with the increase in the marketing and operating expenses.

The net asset value per share of the Group softened to 2.37 cents at the end of June
2009 compared to 2.53 cents at the end of Dec 2008.

Despite the challenging market conditions and the weaker performance, the Group’s
cash balance remains positive. Overall, the cash and cash equivalent of the Group
excluding fixed and margin deposits pledged, stood at S$13.62 million as at 1H 2009.

Dato Johnny Ong, Deputy Executive Chairman of HLH Group Limited, said: “The
economy is extremely challenging, but we are taking strategic initiatives to enhance
our core business operations. We are currently focusing on developing and
enhancing our agri-business and are cautiously optimistic of its prospects for
sustainable growth in its revenue and earnings stream in the mid to long term.”

In addition to the strategic development of its corn plantations in Cambodia, the

Group has also made progress in its other business divisions.

The Merchandising Segment of its Agriculture Division had, in 2Q2009, expanded its
product portfolio and extended its footprint to more countries in South East Asia.
With the commencement of its corn plantation project in Cambodia and the
concurrent plan on developing the corn collection business in the country, the Group
will be able to attain a strategic supplementary source of supply for its merchandising
operations to reinforce its strength in the supply chain and sharpen its competitive
edge.

Its D’ Kranji Farm Resort in Singapore had also enjoyed improved patronage for
2Q2009 as compared to 1Q2009.

As for its property business, the Group had launched two of its boutique residential
projects -- the 30-unit freehold D’ Fresco, and the 25-unit freehold D’ Almira’ and
have achieved 40% and 80% sales respectively. D’ Fresco had started construction
since 4Q2008 while D’ Almira is targeted to commence construction in late 4Q2009.
