Overview:
The mission of NY/NJ HIDTA is to invest in partnerships to build safe and healthy communities.
HIDTA is a program of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), and HIDTAs across the
country focus on reducing drug trafficking and its harmful consequences, particularly drug abuse and
drug-related crime. To accomplish this, the NY/NJ HIDTA builds innovative and effective
partnerships with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies operating in the region. The
NY/NJ HIDTA is currently seeking a crime analyst to collect, analyze and disseminate key drug
intelligence information and to provide critical case support on significant drug enforcement
investigations in Ulster County. The analyst will significantly enhance the ability of state and local
authorities to develop comprehensive, timely, and accurate evaluations of drug threats and trafficking
activities in each area. These efforts will bolster strategic planning and operational effectiveness across
multiple law enforcement agencies.
Job Description:
Duties Will Include:
Perform systematic and analytical processes; extract, compile and analyze data
on reported incidents of crime in order to identify suspects, detect problem
areas, and predict trends in support of criminal enforcement efforts.
Prepare and present statistical reports identifying countywide trends to assist local
police departments and other law enforcement agencies in collectively crafting
strategies to reduce crime.
Identify emerging or existing crime problems and patterns using statistical calculations.
Analyze the linkages and similarities between crimes, offenders, suspects and victims
based upon investigative research and findings to determine and report on trends and
patterns that will assist departmental mangers in formulating effective crime reduction
policies.
Coordinate the gathering and sharing of data with other law enforcement
agencies, other segments of the criminal justice community, and public health
entities.
