Answer
In relationship
Communication is basically the keystone on which you can build a
happy relationship. It is the crucial mortar that binds the
relationship together; any crack in it can actually crumble the
relationship down. We are all aware of the necessity of
communication in a relationship; it strengthens the bond and
keeps the spark alive. But there are times when we are absolutely
clueless about the facts and importance of communication in our
life. This doesnt imply that you are basically a naive person, but
it only implies that you need to be more attentive towards your
way of communicating with your partner in order to understand
him/her better.
Good communication helps in building proper understanding
between the two and that actually contributes to the
development of a better and healthier relationship. The more you
communicate the better clarity you develop and that actually
enables you to be more familiar with the communicating
approach of your partner and vice versa.
Communication doesnt mean you just talk to the other or point
out mistakes; its about helping one another to understand the
different perspectives so as to avoid unnecessary arguments and
misunderstandings.
in effective management
In today's business climate, employers are looking for
management candidates with stellar communication skills. This is
because they have realized that the ability to effectively
communicate is essential for successful managers. Cultivation of
these skills can lead to greater professional success.

Answer
Since we are human beings, so everyone communicates to
someone for following reasons
To promote understanding

quadratic equation
To take decisions

candidate we will vote for.
To inform someone
o Example: the student council president delivers
announcements every day to inform students about
current school events.
To resolve conflicts or problems

press conferences and other media outlets to help
resolve the nations fear surrounding the September
11th attack.

needs.

Question#4

Indicate the critical difference between successful and

ineffective communication.

one party sending a message that is easily understood by the
receiving party. Effective communication by businessmanagers
facilitates information sharing between company employees and
can substantially contribute to its commercial success.

A two way information sharing process which involves one party
sending a message that is not easily understood by the receiving
party. ineffective communication by businessmanagers facilitates
information sharing between company employees and can
substantially contribute to its commercial unsuccess.

Question#5
Discuss the important barriers in the communication
process.

Answer
Anything that prevents understanding of the message is a barrier
to communication. Many physical and psychological barriers exist:
o Culture and background We allow our past
experiences to change the meaning of the message. Our

culture and background can be good as they allow us to

use our past experiences to understand something new, it
is when they change the meaning of the message that
they interfere with the communication process.
o Noise Equipment or environmental noise impedes clear
communication. The sender and the receiver must both be
able to concentrate on the messages being sent to each
other.
o Ourselves Focusing on ourselves, rather than the other
person can lead to confusion and conflict. The Me
Generation is out when it comes to effective
communication. Some of the factors that cause this are
defensiveness (we feel someone is attacking us),
superiority (we feel we know more that the other), and ego
(we feel we are the center of the activity).
o Perception If we feel the person is talking too fast, not
fluently, does not articulate clearly, etc., we may dismiss
the person. Also our preconceived attitudes affect our
ability to listen. We listen uncritically to persons of high
status and dismiss those of low status.
o Message Distractions happen when we focus on the
facts rather than the idea. Our educational institutions
reinforce this with tests and questions. Semantic

distractions occur when a word is used differently than you

prefer. For example, the word chairman instead of
chairperson, may cause you to focus on the word and not
the message.
o Environmental Bright lights, an attractive person,
unusual sights, or any other stimulus provides a potential
distraction.
o Smothering We take it for granted that the impulse to
send useful information is automatic. Not true! Too often
we believe that certain information has no value to others
or they are already aware of the facts.
o Stress People do not see things the same way when
under stress. What we see and believe at a given moment
is influenced by our psychological frames of references
our beliefs, values, knowledge, experiences, and goals.

Question#7

What is noise? Elaborate the elements of noise in the

receiver. How can they be minimized?
Answer
Noise
Communication noise refers to influences on effective
communication that influence the interpretation of conversations.
While often looked over, communication noise can have a
profound impact both on our perception of interactions with
others and our analysis of our own communication proficiency.
Elements of noise in the receiver
In any communication model, noise is interference with the
decoding of messages sent over a channel by an encoder. There
are many examples of noise:

Environmental noise
Noise that physically disrupts communication, such as standing
next to loud speakers at a party, or the noise from a construction
site next to a classroom making it difficult to hear the professor.

Physiological-impairment noise
Physical maladies that prevent effective communication, such as
actual deafness or blindness preventing messages from being
received as they were intended.

Semantic noise
Different interpretations of the meanings of certain words. For
example, the word "weed" can be interpreted as an undesirable
plant in a yard, or as a euphemism for marijuana.

Syntactical noise

Mistakes in grammar can disrupt communication, such as abrupt

changes in verb tense during a sentence.

Organizational noise
Poorly structured communication can prevent the receiver from
accurate interpretation. For example, unclear and badly stated
directions can make the receiver even more lost.

Cultural noise
Stereotypical assumptions can cause misunderstandings, such as
unintentionally offending a non-Christian person by wishing them
a "Merry Christmas".

Psychological noise
Certain attitudes can also make communication difficult. For
instance, great anger or sadness may cause someone to lose
focus on the present moment. Disorders such as Autism may also
severely hamper effective communication

Question#8
Do you agree that, in its final form, communication is
a manifestation of the personalities of both the sender
and the receiver? Discuss.
Answer

Communication

It is the process through which two or more

persons convey their massage or share information to eachother.

Manifestation
It is an event, action, or object that clearly shows
something.

Communication is a manifestation
When we communicate with someone, it involves in
conveying massage, news, to give information or to take
decisions.

Sender
The person who gives message or information to
communicate is the receiver.

Receiver
The person to whom message is communicated is the
receiver.
When we communicate in this way that there is less chance of
involving barriers then two or more persons can understand one
another easily.
From the above statements, it is clear that , in its final
form, communication is a manifestation of the both sender &
receiver.
