Founder & Vice President at ASHRAE NITK Student Chapter
October 2015 - Present (4 months )
About ASHRAE Mission: To advance the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and
refrigeration to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world. Vision: ASHRAE will be the global leader,
the foremost source of technical and educational information, and the primary provider of opportunity for
professional growth in the arts and sciences of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigerating.
ASHRAE NITK chapter has been started under the sponsoring chapter ASHRAE Bangalore. Currently we
are having 27 student members and one student branch adviser. The goals of this student chapter will be to
make our campus more greener and sustainable place to live in.. Some of the projects that have be
done, before starting of the chapter: 1) Conceptual Energy Analysis of Mechanical Department.
2 ) Cooling load calculator application for our campus. Events organised by the chapter: 1) Seminar on
"Sustainable Building Development and Green Buildings" organised by ASHRAE Bangalore. Speaker: Mr.
C. Subramaniam, LEED Accredited Professional, ASHRAE Bangalore Chapter President.

Summer Internship at Heat Pump Laboratory, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay

May 2015 - June 2015 (2 months )
Testing and Integration of "Cooling Panels" developed at Heat Pump Laboratory (HPL) at Indian Institute of
Technology (IIT) Bombay. Cooling capacity of the panel installed at HPL was found. Thermal comfort was
verified as per ASHRAE standards. Mathcad program was developed to find the cooling capacity of the
panel. This new patented cooling panel was found to have a much higher cooling capacity as compared to the
panels that are presently available in the market.
Winter Internship at Techture Structures
December 2014 - December 2014 (1 month )
Learnt HVAC and MEP design and did conceptual Energy simulation of a Smart Data Enterprises building
located in Nagpur in Vasari and Equest, In vasari Solar radiation and wind tunnel analysis was done. Also
learnt about the detailed procedure of retrofitting of a building. In HVAC design learnt about Autodesk CFD
Summer Project at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur
June 2014 - June 2014 (1 month )
Computer Simulation of Problems related to Air Conditioning using C program was done. The supply air
temperature and flow rate of air coming out of air conditioning unit is calculated with the help of sensible and
latent cooling load.

Energy Simulation of Mechanical Department (NITK)
January 2015 to February 2015
Members: Rohan Tote, Vishal Sagarkar
Massing model of the building was designed in Revit and then exported to vasari to do the conceptual energy
analysis of the building. Sun path, Wind rose, Solar radiation, Wind tunnel analysis of the building was done.
Rooftop PV potential was calculated. Optimum orientation of the building was found using both Ecotect and
Green building Studio.

Conceptual Energy Analysis of Smartdata Enterprises (Nagpur)

December 2014 to Present
Members: Rohan Tote
The massing model of the building was designed in Revit with the help of autocad drawing provided by the
users and then exported to vasari to do the conceptual energy analysis of the building. Sun path, Wind rose,
Solar radiation, Wind tunnel analysis of the building was done. Rooftop PV potential was calculated. Also
results obtained in different energy analysis software is compared.
Cooling Load Calculator
October 2015 to Present
Members: Rohan Tote, Vishal Sagarkar
An windows application was developed to calculate cooling load for single zone buildings at our campus.
ASHRAE CLTD method was used for the calculations. Since it was done for use in the campus, default
WWR, u values etc were assumed. It was taken from ECBC guidelines.

I am very motivated and passionate person towards the field of energy efficiency. Doing my graduation in
Mechanical engineering from National Institute of Technology Karnataka. Very much interested in HVAC
design, energy simulation, MEP and energy efficient building design in green buildings. Also me and my
friends started the ASHRAE NITK Student chapter for exploring our knowledge in this field. I am looking
forward for opportunities to work in this field.
