Animal Farm- George Orwell

This book written by George Orwell deals alot about inequlity faced on
a daily basis.
It all started with conflicts arising between two groups of charactersHuman beings vs Animals. The plot was set on farm called Manor Farm
in England.
The owner of the farm was Mr.Jones and on the farm including various
animals.
Mr. Jones in beginning became very drunk and passed out. On his farm,
a well liked
and respected by all the animals on the farm, a pig name - Old Major
had a strange
dream and vision;. Soon all the animals decidedto hear what he had to
say in the
form of a speech(he addressed the animals as "Comrades".
Comrades, our lives are miserable, labrious, and short. We are born,
given, with little
food and forced to work to the last atom of our strength and at the
end, slaughtered
with hideous cruelty and the life of the animal is misery and
slavery.The whole of the
produce is stolen by man because man is the only real enemy we have
because man
serves the no inteold rest of no creatures except himself.
Three nights later, Old Major died in sleep. However, His speech has
given the rest of
the animals a new outlook. His teaching, was now filled by 3 pigsSnowball,

Napoleon, and Squealer. On the farm, a spy animal also existed-Moses, the tame
Raven who was Mr. Jones pet. Raven was not well like by others
because he lied alot
(Existance of a paradise called Sugarcandy Mountain) and was very
lazy.
The new leaders most faithful followers were Boxer and Clover. Other
animals are
Mollie, Blueball,Jessie,Pincher,Benjamin, Muriel, and many more.
Rebellion was starting to take place. Mr. Jones became depressed
because he lost
most of his money in a lawsuit, started to drink heavily. He went too
Red Line Bar
on Saturday and didnt come home till Sunday afternoon. During this
time, one of the
cow broke the food shed door open and the animals started to feed
their hunger.
Jones found out and along with his men decided to confront
themselves but found
themselves outnumbered eventailly getting chased away. the Animals
destroyed
everything that reminded them of Mr. Jones.
Manor farm became Animal Farm and the 7 Commandments were
drawn up.
Later, that Summer news spread of what happened on Animal Farm. In
October,
Jones and mob of people decide;d too win back his farm. Snowball,
was reading
Julius Ceaser war book for defense. The Animals ended up chasing the
humans away

with a little boy dead by Mr.Jones bullet. This was called the" Battle of
Cowshed".
As winter drew, Mollie became more lazy and disappering from the
farm more often.
The pigeons found out she was being interactive with an human who
provided her
with sweets and affection. She was never mentioned by the other
animals again.
On the animal farms, Pigs were considered more superior than the rest
of the
animals because they were involved with how the farm needed to be
ran.
Napoleon and Snowball had difference in opinion in terms of
government.
By having two form of government, the rest of the animals formed 2
alliances:
Vote for Snowball and a 3 day work week or Vote for Napoleon and a
full manger.
The only animal that stayed neutral was Benjamin. Snowball wanted to
build a
windmill but the animals were not smart too help build it. Napoleon
was
anti-windmill but wanted to increase food production through long hrs.
Other differences between the two pigs was defense. Napoleons stance
was that the
animals must be train in fire arms. Snowball idea is too send more
pigeons and stir
up rebellion among animals on other farms.The rest of the animals
were divided and
confused on who there leader should be.

Napoleon befriended 9 vicious dogs who later chased Snowball out of

the farm.
Napoleon became the new leader of Animal Farm. Later, that year all
the Animals
worked like slaves working 60 plus hrs a week. As the year went,
Napoleon made
working Sunday mandatory. Food was still in shortage and in addition
new
commodities that couldnt be produce on the farm were also necessary
in Napoleons
eyes such as paraffin oils, nails, string, dog biscuits,seeds, artificial
manure ,and iron
horse shoes. To get these items that couldnt be produce on the far,
Napoleon started
too barter with other farms and hired Mr. Whymper who will be doing
all the trades
to minimize contact with other humans.
Napoleon started too exploit his own animals for his own benefit. He
also started
too, violate his own commandements by sleeping in a bed or hurt his
own animals
and befriend humans as true friends.
With increase demand for food and new commodities such as money,
Napoleon
decided to construct a windmill. However, vandolism was occuring
resulting in delay
on the project. It, was soon discovered that Snowball was responsible.
With poor leadership surrounding Animal Farms, a commendment was
being violated
in which the Hens had to surrender there eggs in order to satisfy

humans or selling
Boxer the horse to the knackers for money.
As a result of exploiting his own animals, Naploeon's riches grew .The
growing farm
became a co-op enterprise ran jointly by humans and Napoleon and
resulting . The
only animal that benefited from all the hurt, cheating, lying, and abuse
was Napoleon
himself.
