General Instruction:-
First of All let me tell you one thing that System Registry is the Heart of
your System.
Read Each and Every line of this book carefully.
To Open Registry Editor:-
Go to start menu
Click on Run…
Type ―regedit‖ without quotes. And click on OK
The Registry Editor will open.
If Run does‘nt appear on your computer than go to C:\Windows and locate
for file regedit.File it seems like this in C: Windows folder.
Before you edit the registry, export the keys in the registry that you plan to
edit, or back up the whole registry. If a problem occurs, you can then follow
the steps how-to restore the registry to its previous state.
How to Export/Backup Registry Keys:-
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
On the File menu, click Export.
In the Save in box, select the boxs at the bottom the bottom according to
weather you want to export all or only selected branches of the registry.
Next select a location in which to save the backup .reg file. In the File name
box, type a file name, and then click Save.
How to Restore the Registry:-
To restore registry keys that you exported, double-click the .reg file that you
saved.
Nevigation process.
Click on + Sine to Nevigate Registry:-
When you start your PC, Num Lock, Scroll Lock, and Caps Lock don't
automatically toggle on. You can automatically turn each of them on or off
whenever your PC starts, for all accounts on the PC. As a practical matter,
most people probably want to have only Num Lock automatically turned on,
but this Registry hack gives you the power to force any combination of keys
on or off. Run the Registry Editor and go to:-
HKEY_USERS\.Default\Control Panel\Keyboard.
1. Open the Registry Editor. (Click start click run… and type regedit)
2. Navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop.
(1) Double click on WaitToKillAppTimeout and set the Value data to
1000.
(2) Double Click on HungAppTimeout value and set the Value data to
1000 as well.

4. Navigate to :-
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop.
(1) Double click on WaitToKillAppTimeout and set the Value data to
1000.
(2) Double Click on HungAppTimeout value and set the Value data to
1000 as well.
Picture 2
5.Navigate to :-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control.
Select the WaitToKillServiceTimeout value and set it to 1000.

6. Close the Registry Editor.

1. Open the Registry Editor. (click start click run… and type regedit)
4. Menu Speed!
When XP first appeared, there was a lot of conversation about the new
interface, both good and bad. In spite of the initial complaints, most users
stick with the default settings rather than reverting to the Classic interface
found in previous Windows versions. But you might want to change the
delay you notice when you click the Start menu. I see no reason for there to
be any delay when I click the Start menu. Effects are pretty, but I wouldn't
click it if I didn't have business inside, so let's get it open and get moving.
The default speed can be adjusted with a quick Registry hack.
1. Open the Registry Editor. (Click start click run… and type regedit.)
2. Navigate:-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\MenuShowDelay.
The default value is 400. Set it to 0 to remove the delay completely, but if
you do that it will be nearly impossible to move the mouse fast enough
not to activate All Programs if you mouse over it enroute to your final
selection. Pick a number that suits your style, make the change, and then
test it until you find a good compromise between speed and usability.
6. Click OK
7. Restart PC
Perform this hack only if the system has 256MB or more of installed RAM!
Edit the Registry key:-
(set the value to 0 to undo this hack). Exit the Registry and reboot.
1. Open the Registry Editor. (Click start click run… and type regedit)
2. Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\MemoryManagement
3. Set the Value data to 1 to DisablePagingExecutive and have the kernel run
in RAM.
4. Close the Registry Editor.
5. Restart your PC to take Effect.
It's not only startup times that you'd like to speed up; you can also make sure
that your system shuts down faster. If shutting down XP takes what seems to
be an inordinate amount of time, here are a couple of steps you can take to
speed up the shutdown process:
Don't have XP clear your paging file at shutdown For security reasons, you
can have XP clear your paging file (pagefile.sys) of its contents whenever
you shut down. Your paging file is used to store temporary files and data,
but when your system shuts down, information stays in the file. Some people
prefer to have the paging file cleared at shutdown, because sensitive
information such as unencrypted passwords sometimes ends up in the file.
However, clearing the paging file can slow shutdown times significantly, so
if extreme security isn't a high priority, you might not want to clear it. To
shut down XP without clearing your paging file, run the Registry Editor and
go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\Memory Management
Change the value of ClearPageFileAtShutdown to 0. Close the Registry and
restart your computer. Whenever you turn off XP from now on, the paging
file won't be cleared, and you should be able to shut down more quickly.
But you can do much more with a shutdown shortcut than merely shut down
your PC. You can add any combination of several switches to do extra duty,
like this:
shutdown -r -t 01 -c "Rebooting your PC"
Double-clicking on that shortcut will reboot your PC after a one-second
delay and display the message "Rebooting your PC." The shutdown
command includes a variety of switches you can use to customize it. Table
1-3 lists all of them and describes their use.
Now Negivate:-
ComputerConfiguration/AdministrativeTemplates/WindowsComponents/
TerminalServices/TemporaryFolder
Now next time Windows puts a temp file in that folder it will automatically
delete it when its done!
Windows XP includes a feature that keeps track of all recent documents you
have opened or used. The idea is that you can select Start/Recent Documents
History and quickly reopen any document you have recently used. I use
many documents each day and never use the feature myself. In my opinion, I
can keep up with what I want to use without Windows XP doing it for
me.The bad thing about Recent Documents History is that Windows XP has
to calculate what should be put there each time you boot Windows, which
can slow things down. So, if you never use the Recent ocuments History, it's
a good idea to disable it. Here's how:
1. Open the Registry Editor (select Start/Run, type regedit, and click OK).
2. Navigate to :-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mcrosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Policies\Explorer.
3. Create a NoRecentDocsHistory D_WORD key. Double-click the value to
open it once it is created.
4. Set the Data Value to 1 to enable the restriction.
5. Click OK and close the Registry Editor. You'll need to restart the
computer for the change to take effect.
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell\cmd]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When ever you install any program on your PC you will find that all
program will install on C:\Program Files to change the default location of
program file do this hack,
By this hack you can change the path of the program files to D: or other
Drive according to your Computer and you choice.
Go to :-
1. Start > Run
2. Type ―regedit‖ (without ―‖ NOOBS!)
3. Go to this directory…
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVer
sion
- Look for the value named ProgramFilesDir. by default, this value will be
C:\Program Files. Edit the value to any valid drive or folder and XP will use
that new location as the default installation directory for new programs.
Dear friends normally windows save the "My Documents" folder on your C-
drive. But when you right-click on it and go to properties, you can change
the default location where you want windows to save your Documents
folder.
Procedure to change My Documents Target:-
Step 1 - Right click on My Documents.
Step 2 - Than Click on Properties.
Step 3 - Click on Target and Change the Target of My Documents
(Coz My XP is installed in C: so I use D:\My Documents)
This hack dedicate to my Papa Lovely Papa.
I have a partition set up with just windows on it, and all my things i want to
keep are on different partitions/disks. So now I put My Documents on
another partition than where I have windows installed. If windows screws up
and you have to format your C-drive again, your documents will be spared at
least...
4. Click Settings to make any adjustments, such as how often the pictures
should change, what size they should be, and whether you'll use transition
effects between pictures, and then click OK.
Now your screen saver is a random display of the pictures taken from your
My Pictures folder.
Step 1:
A- Run "Resource Hacker" and open the file "%windir%\Explorer.exe".
B- You see a Tree of all Resources in this file, expand the "String Table"
C- Find the "start" and replace it with your own text. Then press the
[Compile Script] button.
D- Save "Explorer.exe" as "MyStart.exe" DONT save it as Explorer.exe, do
"save as…" and give it a new name.
E- Quit "Resource Hacker".
Step 2:
A - Click on the [Start] button and choose the "Run..." item from the start
menu. (Or use the shortcut key WinKey+R)
B - Type "RegEdit" in the Run "Dialog Box". And then press the [Ok] buton
to run the "Registry Editor" program.
C - Go to:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current
Version\Winlogon" and find the "Shell" property.
D - Replace value of the "Shell" property to "MyStart.exe".
E - Quit "Registry Editor".
F - Restart your system.
Do this hack very seriously step by step otherwise your system may not run
properly.
Hibernate is one of the best feature in windows XP by which you can able to
get rid of slow shutdown an start the PC. I know your time is important and
to save you time do this hack.
For some reason, Hibernate isn't available from the default Shut Down
dialog.
To show Hibernate Button in Turn off computer Tab go to control
panelClick on power options and Click on Hibernate and Enable
Hibernate feature by check it button.
To Hibernate Computer Click on start and turn of computer hold down n

"CacheHashTableSize"=dword:00000180
"MaxCacheEntryTtlLimit"=dword:0000fa00
"MaxSOACacheEntryTtlLimit"=dword:0000012d
make a new text file and rename it to dnscache.reg. The copy and paste the
above into it and save it. Then merge it into the registry.
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts.
Store the disk in a secure location, because anyone using it can access your
local user account.
This Registration (.REG) file clears the Page file when you power off the
computer.
Restart Windows for these changes to take effect!
ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE MAKING ANY
CHANGES!
The Create Shortcut Wizard opens. In the text box, type the following:
rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation
Click Next.
Enter a name for the shortcut. You can call it "Lock Workstation" or choose
any name you like.
Click Finish.
You can also change the shortcut's icon (my personal favorite is the padlock
icon in shell32.dll).
Select one of the icons from the list and then click OK
You could also give it a shortcut keystroke such CTRL+ALT+L. This would
save you only one keystroke from the normal command, but it could be
more convenient.
1. Go to Activate Windows
2. Select the Telephone option
3. Click "Change Product Key"
4. Enter RK7J8-2PGYQ-P47VV-V6PMB-F6XPQ
5. Click "Update"
Now log off and log back in again. It should now show 60 days left, minus
the number of days it had already counted down.
The default speed of the Start Menu is pretty slow, but you can fix that by
editing a Registry Key. Fire up the Registry Editor and navigate to the
following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop \ MenuShowDelay
If your confounded by the slow speed of the Start Menu, even after using the
tip above, then you might try the following: Navigate to Display Properties
then Appearance then Advanced and turn off the option titled Show menu
shadow. You will get much better overall performance.
There, now Windows will still look nice and perform faster
1. Go to Start menu
2. Click on RUN
3. Enter the following command excluding hashcodes "shutdown -a"
its Done.
20) Syskey = syskey.exe (Secures XP Account database - use with care, it's
virtually undocumented but it appears to encrypt all passwords, I'm not sure
of the full implications).
21) Microsoft Telnet Client = telnet.exe
22) Driver Verifier Manager = verifier.exe (seems to be a utility for
monitoring the actions of drivers, might be useful for people having driver
problems. Undocumented).
23) Windows for Workgroups Chat = winchat.exe (appears to be an old NT
utility to allow chat sessions over a LAN, help files available).
24) System configuration = msconfig.exe (can use to control starup
programs)
25) gpedit.msc used to manage group policies, and permissions
Click on Properties
Click OK
Click OK
Steps
Right click on my computer and Click on manage.
Than click on + Sine of local Users and Groups.
Than Click on users.(you will see all accounts
Right Click on Administrator and click on Set Password…
Click on Proceed.
Enter new password and retype again to confirm new password.
If you want to reset password. Than don‘t type any password and click on
ok.
Message [The password has been Set].
· Open My Computer.
· At the bottom of the window you'll see "Allow indexing service to index
this disk for faster searches," uncheck this and click ok.
· A new window will pop up and select Apply to all folders and subfolders.
It will take a minute or two for the changes to take affect but then you
should enjoy slightly faster performance.
Solution: The service: "Shell Hardware Detection" has been set to Manual or
Disabled. Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Return this
service to "Automatic".
If you find this to be not useful, Repeat Steps 1 and 2 and then
check click the Toolbar you created that has a check mark next to
it.And it will disappear.

Well here's the trick which you can use to prove that
Windows XP is not at all secure as multi-user operating
system. Hacking the system registry from any account
having access to system registry puts you in to the
administrator account.
Regedit 4:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"AutoAdminLogon"="1"
59. No Shutdown:
Key Details :
In other words if you are looking for a file that is NOT registered
with an application on your PC, it will not be found using the
default search settings.
However, you can turn off the default by a quick Tweak of the
registry!
Open the Registry editor (type regedit from the Run command) and
navigate to:
FilterFilesWithUnknownExtensions
..and change the value from 0 to 1
Make sure the customer has fewer than 500 type fonts
installed on their computer. The more fonts they have,
the slower the system will become. While Windows XP
handles fonts much more efficiently than did the
previous versions of Windows, too many fonts -- that is,
anything over 500 -- will noticeably tax the system.
Goto the 'processes' tab and click explorer.exe once and then click 'end
process'.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\R
un\MSMSGS
Now hold the "Alt" key and type "255" and hit Enter
NOTE : It may only work with the keypad numbers and not the number keys
on top of the keyboard.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session

2. When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the options
below This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft Windows XP to
run on your computer:
3. Press Enter to start the Windows Setup. Do not choose "To repair a
Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R", (you do not
want to load Recovery Console). I repeat, do not choose "To repair a
Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R".
4. Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing
windows installations.
5. Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press R to
start the repair. If Repair is not one of the options, read this Warning!!
6. Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot. Do not
press any key to boot from CD when the message appears. Setup will
continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your Applications and
settings will remain intact.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/CurrentVersion/Policies
Under this key, there will definitely be a key named explorer. Now under this explorer
key we can create new DWORD values and modify it's value to 1 in order to impose the
restriction. If you want to remove the Restriction, then you can simply delete the
respective DWORD values or instead change their values to 0. The following is a list of
DWORD values that can be created under the Explorer Key-:
Windows.
NoSaveSettings: Means to say, 'Don't save settings on exit'
DisableRegistryTools: Disable Registry Editing Tools (If you disable this option, the
Windows Registry Editor (regedit.exe) too will not work.)
NoRecentDocsHistory: Removes Recent Document system folder from the Start Menu
(IE 4 and above)
ClearRecentDocsOnExit: Clears the Recent Documents system folder on
Exit.Nolnternetlcon: Removes the Internet (system folder) icon from the Desktop
Similarly, if we create a new subkey named Network, we can add the following DWORD
values under it(1 for enabling the particular option and 0 for disabling the particular
option):
NoNetSetupSecurityPage: Hides Network Security Page
NoNelSetup: Hides or disables the Network option in the Control
PanelNoNetSetupIDPage: Hides the Identification Page
NoNetSetupSecurityPage: Hides the Access Control Page
NoFileSharingControl: Disables File Sharing Controls
NoPrintSharing: Disables Print Sharing Controls
Similarly, if we create a new subkey named WinOldApp, we can add the following
DWORD values under it(1 for enabling the particular option and 0 for disabling the
particular option):
Solitaire
Secret - Instant Win
Instructions - Hold down CTRL + ALT + SHIFT while drawing a new card.
Instead of drawing three cards you will only draw one.
Infinite Points
In the Windows XP version of solitaire, draw from the deck at least twice.
Hold control and drag a card down from the deck. Click the "A" key and
then let go of the left mouse key. You will get 10 points for this. Continue
doing this for infinite points!
To do this trick, finish a game of solitaire with the time bonus option on. The
cards will start bouncing. Click on the solitaire screen and the play again box
will pop up. Select no, so the solitaire screen is just blank green. Use the
instant win cheat (Alt+Shift+2) and you will recieve the time bonus you got
last game will be added to your last game's score. For example, if your time
bonus was 5000, and your final score was 6000, after using this glitch, you
will have a score of 11000. This glitch can be used as many times as you
want.
For my point of view use these type of password and ensure that your
password should atleast 15 characters long and characters should alpha
numeric as well as special character also your password should like these.
!@#$%IndiA123AjaY
Have!a!nice!dayt0!india.
So secure your mail and and use these type of password as well as security
questions put these type of password and information.
When using 3rd party burning software (eg, Nero Burning Rom) to
copy audio CD, some noise may be heard at the end of each track.
To prevent this, try thefollowing method:
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Sound,
And find the Beep and ExtendedSounds String values. Set each
value to No. Exit the Registry and reboot.
The beeps will no longer sound. Hey, your XP is no longer noisy!!
