About the Job
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The following is a posting for an exciting new opportunity as a member of the Financial Planning & Analysis team as the
Financial Analyst supporting our Sales and Channel Development teams at Acklands-Grainger.
The Financial Planning & Analysis team supports all areas of the business in planning, forecasting, reporting and financial
analysis. Our objective is to provide exceptional customer service to our business partners.
This role will be the primary support role assisting in all areas of planning, forecasting, reporting and analysis for the sales
and channel development teams. These teams include national and commercial account teams, eCommerce, medium
customer acquisition and sales force effectiveness teams. The role will report to the Senior Manager, Financial Planning &
Analysis.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare monthly financial reports

Provide financial support to the sales budget process and maintain budget tracking system

Provide transactional support and track performance to budget for Sales and Channel Development teams

Responsible for month end National Account Sales Commission accrual, as well as lead on quarterly payout
process

Assist in development and completion annual plans and quarterly financial forecasts

Provide financial support to the business units as required; assist with the development of ad hoc financial
analyses of customer, product or service related issues and opportunities

Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and improve processes

Assist in the development of Capital Appropriation Requests, including the development of financial forecasts and
discounted cash flow analyses

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of a university degree, preferably in Business Administration or Commerce;

2-3 years experience in a similar role, preferably within a distribution environment;

Strong well-rounded business acumen; ability to understand the broader context of assignments and present a
balanced approach when advising the business;

Excellent Microsoft Office Skills with a strong emphasis on Excel;

Demonstrated skills and initiative in process improvement;

Strong customer service focus; ability to effectively consult to functional and business units and enhance their level
of knowledge;

Proven organizational and time management skills;

Prior experience and ability to effectively present information via written and verbal presentation, to all levels of
management, including the Executive;

Accounting designation would be an asset

Our client, located in Markham, has an immediate opening for the position of Financial Analyst for a
long term to potential permanent role.
Roles and Responsibilities
Work on monthly bookings and reconciliation between Libra Job Cost and Hyperion. Gather and
prepare monthly statistical data on Hyperion Excel Retrieve, to upload to the Hyperion reporting
system. Analyze statistical data for accuracy. Reconcile statistical data by comparing sub-ledgers
to Hyperion Reports and adjust data as required. Generate and distribute all month end reports
from Libra and Hyperion. Generate and prepare quarterly and year-to-date League Standings
reports to be sent to Branch Managers. Prepare and send monthly forecast files to be completed
by Branch Managers. Prepare and work on special reports and data as required.

Qualifications and Experience

Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, MS office. Knowledge of Hyperion and SAP systems an


asset. An Accounting and Business Degree is required. Two to three years experience in
Accounting and Finance required. Hands on experience with statistical analysis and statistical
packages. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Manager Financial Reporting the Senior Financial Analyst will be
responsible for various tasks within the financial performance reporting process. This
includes, but is not limited to preparing, reviewing and analyzing financial reports;
coordination of budgets and forecasts; conducting and investigating variance analysis
and providing analytical support for decision making and ensuring reports are accurate
and completed in accordance to accounting principles and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements


(Internal/External) for the Star Media Group as well as supporting narrative and
supplementary schedules.

Work closely with the finance team to ensure that all reporting requirements are
completed by the specified deadline date.

Involved in all aspects of month end close; from preparation of various journal
entries to reconciliation of various general ledger accounts including investigating
and correcting variances as required.

Maintain the reporting system and provide support to the end users.

Prepare monthly reports on capital spending and assist with capital forecast and
annual budget

Consolidate quarterly operating forecasts and annual budget and assist with the
preparation of summary packages for various management-level reviews.

Preparation of ad-hoc reports and analysis as requested.
