Prezi
Introduction
What is Prezi?

a cloud based software tool delivered as a service over the Internet with numerous capabilities
for writers.
employs a zooming user interface (ZUI), which allows users to zoom in and out of their
presentation media. The user can display and navigate through information within a 2.5D or
parallax 3D space for both broad and detailed viewing.
was officially established in April 2009 by co-founders Adam Somlai-Fischer, Peter Halacsy and
Peter Arvai.
It is developed in Adobe Flash, Adobe AIR and built on top of Django. It is therefore compatible
with most modern computers and web browsers. However, it does not comply with web
standards, since it is still necessary to install the Adobe Flash plug-in
From July 2014 viewing Prezis is also possible without Adobe Flash, using only Javascript.

History

Officially established in April 2009, by co-founders Adam Somlai-Fischer, Peter Halacsy and
Peter Arvai.
created by the support of Kitchen Budapest and Magyar Telekom in 2008 in order to replace
ordinary slide-based presentations.
Today the project is assisted by Sunstone Capital.
The actual development was done by Zui Labs led by its three Hungarian founders Pter rvai,
Szabolcs Somlai-Fischer and Pter Halcsy. The word prezi is the Hungarian short form of
presentation.

Uses

Business and conferences

Some users at the World Economic Forum are currently using Prezi for their presentations. Many
TED Conference speakers have used Prezi, including TED curator Chris Anderson, who used a
Prezi for his TED Global 2010 presentation

Education
It can be used by teachers and students to collaborate on presentations with multiple users able to
access and edit the same presentation. Also allow students to construct and present their
knowledge in different learning styles.

Information visualization
In July 2011, The Guardian used Prezi to publish a new world map graphic on their website, for
an article about the newly independent South Sudan.

Advantage

Prezi offers a number of benefits to these projects by foregrounding issues of design and selfrepresentation.
Integrates multiple modes of communication and expression to enhance or transform the
meaning of the work beyond illustration.

Versions

Prezi ZUI
The Prezi online and offline ZUI editors employ a common tool palette, allowing users to pan
and zoom, and to size, rotate, or edit an object. The user places objects on a canvas and navigates
between videos, images, texts and other presentation media. Frames allow grouping of
presentation media together.

Prezi Desktop
Prezi Desktop allows Prezi Pro or Edu Pro subscribers to work off-line and create and save their
presentations on their own Windows or Mac systems. Prezi Desktop Editor allows users to work
on the presentation off-line in a .pez file format. Users can have files up to 500 MB in size when
signing up with a school-affiliated e-mail address.

Prezi Collaborate
Prezi Collaborate is an online collaboration feature that allows up to ten people (co-located or
geographically separated) to co-edit and show their presentations in real time. Users participate
in a prezi simultaneously, and each is visually represented in the presentation window by a small
avatar.

Prezi Viewer for iPad

Prezi Viewer is an app developed for the iPad for viewing prezis created on one's Prezi online
account. The iPad touchscreen and multi-touch user interface enables users to pan, and pinch to
zoom in or out.

Interface

Zoomable Prezi canvas

Place your text, images, and videos on the Prezi canvas. Then rotate them, navigate between them,
and make them as large or small as you want.

Top Menu
1) Left side: Here you can see your prezi's title, save your prezi, undo your most recent action,
or redo something that you just undid.
2) Center: Here you can find all the tools you need to add content and customize your prezi.
3) Right side: Here you can start your presentation, share and access Prezi's collaborative
features, change your screen ratio, enable shortcuts, get help, and exit (this will also save)
your current Prezi session.

Sidebar
Your content is seen in here, in the order you want them to be in.

Home and Zoom Buttons

Zoom in and out, or get an overview by clicking the home button. You can find the home and zoom
buttons by hovering your mouse on the right side of the canvas. To get an overview of everything
you've added so far, you could use the Home button on the right hand side of your screen.
HOW TO USE PREZI
1) Starting from a template
When you create a prezi, you can choose from a number of reusable templates or a blank canvas. When
you decide to use a template, you can edit everything you see on the canvas.

2) Navigating the canvas

Zooming
This is a key feature of Prezi. You can zoom in and out by using your mouses scroll wheel or by
using the zoom buttons.

Panning

To move your prezi canvas left, right, up, or down, hold down the left button of your mouse and then
move in the direction you want to go.
3) Adding text and images
Click anywhere and start typing to add text.

4) Select Insert from the top menu to start adding images from the web or your computer.

5) Getting to know the Transformation Tool

Once you add anything to your canvas, click on it once to bring up the Transformation Tool. Now you
can move, size, and rotate your content any way you like.

6) Framing your content

Frames are a signature part of Prezi and a great way to manage your content. They work like slides and
can be used to group your ideas. Use frames to create a placeholder in your prezi and then add content to
them. You can change the color, shape, size, and position of a frame, and once you add a frame to your
prezis canvas, all the content inside it will move, size, and rotate to your desire.
7) Creating frames

8) Customizing your prezi

Use the Customize sidebar to set the colors and fonts of your prezi.

9) Inserting layouts
Prezi has created both single and multi-frame layouts ready for you to drag and drop right onto your
canvas. Just click Insert from the top menu and then make your selection.

10)

Editing your path

When presenting your ideas, it helps to have a clear narrative that takes your audience through your
prezi. With the Left Sidebar, you can create a journey from one idea to the next. Edit your path and its
points in Edit mode and take your audience along that path in Present mode.

11) To set your path, click the Edit Path on the left side of screen. Then click on the objects in your
prezi canvas in the order you wish them to appear. You can also use the sidebar to rearrange and
delete path points or to zoom to a specific path point.

Activity

Create a presentation using Prezi about any of the following options:

Option 1: Procedural presentation: Create a presentation that show step by step procedure of any
chosen activity. (e.g. How to make your favorite dessert, How to make an origami)

Option 2: Bibliography: Create a presentation showing different facts about your favorite
national hero or any TV personality.
Option 3: Factual: Make a presentation showing 5 people from your block with pictures and give
a fun fact about each one

Make sure to add background and effects on your presentation.
