4th Week Sharing Time idea for May

When I am confirmed I receive the gift of the Holy Ghost

From: http://littleldsideas.blogspot.com

What you will need for this Sharing Time:

Gifts: One gift with GAK Picture 602 (The Gift of the Holy Ghost). Wrap this in a large box with a
really nice bow and wrapping paper. Make this one look really special. Then you will need several
more gifts with different clues inside of each. (Examples below)
Clues: You will need to print out pictures of each clue, examples below.
Helper: At the end of your lesson you could have someone (a Father, a new convert, a newly
baptized child) come in and talk to the children about when they received the Gift of the Holy Ghost or
if it’s a father or brother from the ward, have them talk about a time they had to lay their hands on
someone’s head and confirm them. Have them tell the children how they felt, etc.

To Begin your Sharing Time:

Have a table in the front of the room. Place all of your gifts on top of the table, Place the large gift (the
one with the GAK picture inside) near the back of the table with all the other smaller gifts in front of it.
If you want you can cover the gifts with a blanket, so that the children can’t see what is underneath.
Tell the children that today you will be talking about a very special gift that we can all receive. Tell the
children that underneath the blanket are several gifts and inside each gift is a clue that will help tell us
what the very special gift is. Uncover the gifts. Show the children the small gifts and tell them that
these are the clues. Then show them the large gift, and tell them that this is the gift that we are trying
to guess what is inside.
Take turns choosing a child to come up and pick a gift. Have them unwrap it and then show everyone
the clue. Talk a little bit about the clue. Tell them not to shout anything out loud. Try to have everyone
talk very quietly during the whole Sharing Time. Tell them that if they know the answer to not say
what it is.
Once all of the clues have been opened, ask if anyone, who knows the answer, would like to come up
and whisper the answer in your ear. If they know what is inside the gift, have them open the gift and
then show all the children what it is.
Tell the children a little bit about the Gift of the Holy Ghost. If you decided to have someone come in
and talk to the children, have them come in and share their story.
Close by bearing your testimony.

A Treat Idea: I thought that this might be kind of cute. Get some of those clear gloves and fill each
one with popcorn, candy, etc. This represents they laying on of hands for the Gift of the Holy Ghost.
You could also fill the glove half way, and then in the palm of the glove put a “Hershey’s Treasure”.
Tell the children that when ‘hands’ are laid upon our head we receive the greatest ‘treasure’. Tie the
glove and attach a little note about the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Just an idea.

-Ear:
could have a picture of a child whispering into someone’s ear.)

blanket to represent ‘comforter’. This gift will
comfort you, that’s why it is sometimes referred to as the comforter. (John 14:26)
