1.

Contract ratio
- Total project PO = No-dig PO issued + Project trench PO
- Total PO issued = A+O+N+P
- Total project value = Sum of total project PO
- Total No-dig planned = sum of each column (What is the difference
between yellow cells and green cells?)
2. Cable Monthly forecast
- Length of cable required for each size from the manufacturers
(VISCAS,EXSYM and others) in 2010
- Total Length of cable required for each month from the manufacturer
- Summing the total length of cable required in each month
3. Yearly cable requirement (2008-2011)
- Summing the length of cable required for each size in each year
- Summing the length of cable required for each month for each year
4. Laying cable forecast
- Total number of trench or no-dig work performed by each contractor
- Total number of trench or no-dig work performed in each month
- Total number of trench or no-dig work performed by each engineer
5. Yearly Trench (2008-2011)
- Monthly trench work for each year
- Each contractors trench work for each year
- Ratio of trench work performed by each contractor for each year

1. Yearly cable requirement

-

For each year, the number of different size cables required in each
month.(Sorted by cable size and month)

2. Cable monthly forecast

-

The Length of different size cables manufactured by VISCAS and EXSYM

required for each month in 2010 and then sum them up (Sorted by
cable size and month)

3. Guideline
-

Showing the permission to modify or enter new data.

4. Rate table (Single circuit/double circuit)

-

Cost per meter for each size of cable manufactured by VISCAS

Cost of different types of joint (Joint/SE)
Cost for trenching work (trench work + cable laying + joint bay
construction) Joint Bay: Workplace for workers to construction the
joints between the cable
No-dig cost (Pit construction cost + design cost (the trench design is not
drafted by CLP but by contactor))

5. Laying monthly forecast

-

Showing the number of cable laying work and no dig work for each
contractor and engineer in each month in 2010.

6. Contract ratio
-

Showing the percentage of project value occupied by KS and BC

(Trenching project/No-dig project)

7. Yearly trench
-

Number of trench work by each contractor in each month during 20082010 (sorted by month, contractor and year)

Cable work management

1. Stakeholders
2. Working agendas
3. Cost involvement

1.

Stakeholders

a. Network development engineers planning the cable route (crossing the riverbed
/Trenching or no-dig /How many sections of cable required )
i.e. The cable is not a whole length connection but divided into different sections
connected by joints
b. Trench work contractor (e.g K.S )
c. Cable route selection consultant
d. Stakeholders of existing and planned utility facilities records
2.

Working agendas
a. Project kick-off meeting:
- All stakeholders attend
- ND engineer presents the proposal cable route
- CLPP presents the design brief
- Deliverables of Trenching Work Contractor
- CLPP or appointed route selection consultant provides existing and planned
utilities facilities records along the proposed cable route
- Land issues and interfaces
- Specific Risks identified and suggested measures
b. Joint site visit
- ND team leader and Contractors project manager to attend
- Identifying possible difficulties, extra trench depth/width requirement
at various locations, joint bay locations
- Preparing master trench work programme for all of the proposed
cable sections for scheduling the application of excavation permits
(XP) for every respective cable section (before CLPP issuing of PO)
- Identifying potential stakeholders that would affect the trench work
Progress
- Initiate appropriate design for trenchless application
c. Trenching programme (after the issue of Purchase
Order)
- Adopts unique trenching section ID
- Estimating the no. of workman required for the job
- Producing list of equipment and materials to be used

- Estimating duration for each activity, e.g. trial hole, trench

excavation, backfilling, reinstatement etc. according to Challenging
Unit Working Time (CUWT), cable jointing time and any float time.

3. Project Cost involvement (Labor cost/material cost)

- Cable Purchase
- Trenching/No-dig
- Acces??
- Cable jointing
- Cable laying
