monochromeimages,dependingontheprintribboninstalled.
Abusyissuancesitemightissueupto10,000cardsamonth.Duringthesebusytimes,thesite
mightusemorethanoneprintertokeepupwithdemand.Theprinterissuescardseitheroneata
timeorinbatchesupto100cardsatatime.A200cardinputhopperisavailableandcanbe
installedwithouttools.Inaddition,anoptionalmultihopperwithsixinputhoppers,eachwitha

printer,printercontrols,printingatestcard,loadingandreplacing
supplies,andcleaningtheprinter.

How the Card Travels


CardprocessingbeginswhenyousendthecardtoprintfromthePC.Thehopperpickmechanism
picksacardandmovesthecardintotheprinterforprocessing.
Optionally,thecardmovestothemagneticstripeencodingareaortothesmartcardparkstation,
dependingonthetypeofcardselected.Encrypteddataisdecryptedandwrittentothecard.If
thesystemincludesalaminator,thecardthenmovesintothelaminatorwheretheoverlay
materialisappliedtothecard.Thefinishedcardexitstheprinterthroughthecardoutputhopper.

1. Openthelaminatoraccessdoor.
2. RemovetheL1andL2(ifinstalled)laminatorcartridges.

3. Turnthemanualadvanceknobsinsideofthelaminatoruntilthecardisaccessible.
4. Removethecard.
5. Replacethelaminatorcartridges.
6. Closethelaminatoraccessdoor.

Cleanthelaminatorwhenatleastonelaminatorcartridgeisloadedwithholographicoverlay
materialandanyofthefollowingaretrue:

Particlesappearonthelaminatedcards.

Particlesarevisibleinsidethelaminator.

Forexamplesofproblemsthatrequirelaminatorcleaning,refertoLaminatorProblemson
page 55.
Thisprocedureusesadoublesided,stickycleaningcardthatremovesholographic
overlayparticlesfromthelaminator.WhenyoucleantheCDsystemusingaregular
cleaningcard,thecardalsomovesintothelaminatorandcleansthelaminator
rollers,thecardentryarea,andtheimpresserexitrollers.Thisissufficientifyouare
notusingholographicoverlay.RefertoRunaCleaningCardonpage 32.
1. UnlockthelaminatoraccessdoorandremovetheL1andL2laminatorcartridges.

2. Removeprintedcardsfromtheoutputhopper,ifnecessary.

3. Removetheprotectivepaperfrombothsidesofthedoublesided,stickylaminatorcleaning
cardandinsertthecardundertherollersofthecardexitslotofthelaminator.Whenitisin
thecorrectlocationandpushedinfarenough,thecardstaysinplace.

4. UsetheLCDmenusystemtostartthecleaningcycle.

Thelaminatorpullsthecleaningcardfromthecardexitslotintothelaminatorandmovesit

severaltimes.Ifthesystemhaslocks,theusedcardisejectedintothelaminatorrejecttray.If
thesystemdoesnothavelocks,theusedcardisejectedintothelaminatoroutputhopper.
5. Inspectthelaminatorcartridgesforparticles.Ifparticlesarepresent:
a. Retrievethelaminatorcleaningcardanduseittoremovetheparticlesofoverlay
materialfromthecartridges.
b. Ifparticlesstillremainonthecartridgeandinsideofthelaminator,useavacuumcleaner
withasmallplastichoseattachmenttocarefullyremovetheparticles.Alsocleanany
remainingparticlesfromtheoutputhopper.

HINTS&TIPS

Ifthecleaningcardisnotpulledintothelaminator,thecardisnotinthecorrectposition.The
cleaningcardmustbelocatedundertherollersofthecardexitslotinsidetheoutputhopper.

Attheendofthelaminatorcleaningcycle,thecardcansticktotherollersintheoutput
hopper.Pullonthecardtoremoveit.

Discardthelaminatorcleaningcardafteroneuse.

Avoidcontactwiththeheatedroller,whichcontainssensitiveelectroniccomponents.

Ifcleaningthelaminatordoesnotsolvetheproblem,contactyourserviceproviderfor
assistance.
