TOOLS & HOW TO USE THEM DEPT.

HACKSAW:
One of a family of cutting tools built on the Ouija board
principle... It transforms human energy into a crooked,
unpredictable motion, and the more you attempt to
influence its course, the more dismal your future
becomes.
VISE-GRIPS:
Generally used after pliers to completely round off bolt
heads. If nothing else is available, they can also be used
to transfer intense welding heat to the palm of your hand.
Quote of the month:
People ask the difference between a leader and a
boss. The leader leads, and the boss drives.

Mentoring Program.
Aldinga Beach B 7 School invites the assistance of
volunteer mentors to help out in our Mentoring Program.
The program has seen over 1200 students and 130
volunteers participate.
Community volunteers spanning generations enjoy the
opportunity to provide guidance, pass on skills, share
experiences and expertise with students in an informal
yet structured environment. Training and supervision is
provided by the school.
This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to develop
their skills and look to the future with optimism.
The absolute strength of this initiative is the generations
interacting together to achieve excellence in a shared
passion. Primary students yearn to hear the rich life
experiences of community mentors.
We are currently in need of a guitar tutor, but other
activities include woodwork, arts/crafts, ceramics, sports
and science. We can develop any interest / skills even if
you do not know that you have them yet!
The gift of your experience, support and life skills are
appreciated by the students and the positive role
modelling you provide is invaluable.

WAYNE

This month is our third section on when you need to

legally give way.
Again we acknowledge the source as RAAs SA
Motor - 2015 Spring Edition
It's not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the
fight in the dog. Wayne, at 6'3" has both sides covered;
due, he says, to a Spiritual strength he discovered in '87.
Not going anywhere in particular and not caring much
anyway, he was initially impressed by his sister's story of
being born again, and soon followed her example. But
not everything suddenly became whistles and bright
lights. Disappointment; in fact shock and dispair became
a pattern. Despite doing his best at every turn, all his
efforts turned into mud.
But Wayne knows from experience that fine machinery
(like his motor bikes) needed the right fuel to run
properly - the higher the performance, the higher the
octane needed. And for the far more intricate human, that
the right spiritual food was absolutely essential.
So his early experience of encountering Christ and what
they termed the "baptism in the Holy Spirit" was the
stabilising reality he needed to stay in the race, maintain
his direction and handle each setback as best he could.
The most sustaining period was his time in Bible College
where he found an oasis of refreshment and
encouragment as he gradually discovered what was
expected of a Christ-follower in the verticle and
horizontal relationships. An example of this was when
Wayne felt he was being asked by God to make a gift of a
considerable amount of money to a person who had hit
upon hard times - but who had been one of those who had
caused him considerable grief. He gave the money.
Wayne sees each person as unique and believes Jesus
died for each and every one of us, just as we are. We need
to invite Him into our battles for He said, "My strength is
made perfect in your weaknes."

The Get Together Club

A club exists in Aldinga Beach for adults with a
disability and their families.
The group encourages friendship, fun, connection and
inspiration.
It is the only group of its kind in the southern area.

games, and getting to know each other.
A variety of activities are planned for the monthly group
including singing, painting, puppet making, and guest
chefs. Ideas for activities are welcome and encouraged.
The Get Together Club has received a Community
Grant from the City of Onkaparinga and is also
supported by Minda Incorporated, Carer Support and

Talking Health
with Kelly Harding ND
Are you sick of catching colds and flus?
Colds and flus can strike at anytime, not just the
dreaded winter season. The good news is you do
not have to put up with runny noses, sinus pain,
fevers, sore throats, coughs and generally feeling
unwell. Now is the time to look at what natural
supplement may help support your immune system.
If you regularly catch colds and flus you may have
an imbalance in your immune system, which can
make you more susceptible to infection. A poor diet,
nutritional deficiencies and a lack of exercise can all
lead to this imbalance. A strong immune system can
help protect you from harmful invaders such as
viruses and bacteria, by recognising them as a
potential threat.
Contrary to popular belief, viruses cause colds and
flus not bacteria. Viruses are minute infectious
agents which invade and hijack your cells. The
immune system recognizes viruses as invaders and
attempts to destroy them before they invade your
cells. If your immune system is out of balance it may
lose this ability to destroy them and viral infection
can occur. Common symptoms include fevers, sore
throat, and fatigue among others.
There are many herbs and nutrients that can help in
these situations and this is where you Naturopath
can specifically tailor the right supplements for you
as an individual. By making some simple changes
to diet and lifestyle and by taking the appropriate
supplements you can reduce your risk of contracting
colds and flus. Speak to us about the best way to
manage or prevent your colds and flus this season.
Our phone no is 08 8556 5945.
In the mean time there are some simple diet and
lifestyle changes you can incorporate into your day
to help to strengthen your immune system to
prevent colds and flus.
Eat a well balanced diet including fresh vegetables,
fruits, nuts, seeds, fish, eggs, legumes and lean red
meat. Reduce your intake of mucous forming foods,
such as dairy. Avoid foods low in nutrients that
suppress the immune system such as sugar, white
flour products and alcohol. Drink at least 2 litres of
filtered water every day. Exercise regularly and
finally ensure you are getting enough sleep. We
look forward to hearing from you at the clinic.

GROWING OLD.
As I've aged, I've become kinder to, and less critical
of myself. I've become my own friend.
I have seen too many dear friends leave this world,
too soon; before they understood the great freedom
that comes with aging.
Whose business is it, if I choose to read, or play on
the computer, until 4 AM, or sleep until noon? I will
dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the
50s, 60s & 70s, and if I, at the same time, wish to
weep over a lost love, I will.
I will walk the beach, in a swim suit that is stretched
over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves,
with abandon, if I choose to, despite the pitying
glances from the jet set. They, too, will get old.
I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again,
some of life is just as well forgotten. And,
eventually, I remember the important things.
Sure, over the years, my heart has been broken.
How can your heart not break, when you lose a
loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when
somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But
broken hearts are what give us strength, and
understanding, and compassion. A heart never
broken, is pristine, and sterile, and will never know
the joy of being imperfect.
I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have
my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful
laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my
face. So many have never laughed, and so many
have died before their hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care

less about what other people think. I don't question
myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be
wrong.
So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has
set me free. I like the person I have become. I am
not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I
will not waste time lamenting what could have been,
or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat
dessert every single day (if I feel like it).

Flies the Australian national bird
When we think about the Australian bush we
cannot help but think of flies. They are as big
a part of the Australian outdoors as gum trees
and kangaroos. But what do we know about
them? Why are there so many? What types
are there? What does fly blown mean? Why do
some bite? Why do they fly in circles in the
middle of a room? What is a blow fly? How
do they land an take off upside down? So
many questionsThis talk will put the microscope on the fly What do we do about them,
and why!
