MBA MANAGING HUMAN CAPITAL


GROUP PROJECT/INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT
OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this group assignment is to broaden the scope of the course beyond information
contained in the text by providing you an opportunity to apply your own ideas and experiences.
The project is also a means for evaluating the groups analytical ability, creative thinking and
judgment in the presentation of answers.
ASSIGNMENT
Your group assignment involves identifying a problem or issue in any area of Human Resource
Management in any organization, based on your group member/s experience or issues
encountered . The problem or issue must be related to any one of the following topics such as:

Strategic HRM
Job Analysis& Work Design
Human Resource Planning& Recruitment
Employee Selection& Placement
Training& Developing Employees
Performance Management
Employee Contribution
Employee Safety & Health
Global HR & Diversity Management

Your group must select problem or issue in one of the above topics, analyze the problem or issue,
give recommendations and suggest an implementation plan for the recommendations. Your group
members should relate the analysis of the problem or issue to the human resource management
concepts and theories covered in this course.
WRITTEN REPORT
The assignment should be organized in a professional manner (typed and double-spaced). The
written report and presentation should include your groups opinions and the references used.
The written report should be fluent and reflect continuity.

SUGGESTED FORMAT OF REPORT


1. Title page. A title page contains the following information: the title of the problem or
issue, the group number and name, names of the members in the group, class name,
subject and the date of submission of the report.
2. Executive Summary. The executive summary should summarize the discussion or
analysis of the problem or issue and then focus on the key recommendations. The
executive summary should not be more than 300 words and should be written last, once
your group has written the report.
3. Problem Statement. This part of the report should clearly explain the problem or issue
that requires to be tackled or solved and the related topic in human resource management.
4. Analysis or Discussion. This part of the report should analyze the problem or issue in
terms of: what caused the problem or issue, who are the individuals/parties involved,
when it happened, where happened and how it happened The explanation in this section
should be linked to the human resource management concepts and/or theories that are
relevant to the problem or issue being analyzed.
5. Alternative actions. This part of the report presents the reasonable alternative actions to
tackle or solve the problem/issue.
6. Recommended solution/action. This part presents the strengths and weaknesses of each
alternative action. Finally, the most suitable alternative action should be selected as the
recommended solution and carefully justified.
7. Implementation plan. This part states how, where, when and by whom the
recommended solution/action will be implemented. How the problem will be prevented
in the future should also be explained here.
8. References. All references used in writing your report should be acknowledged.
9. Exhibits/Appendices. This part of the report includes any tables, figures, etc. prepared
while writing the report or to present evidence that is too lengthy or not directly relevant
to be included in the main body of the written report.
GROUP PRESENTATION
The group assignment has to be presented orally in class by the group members. All group
members must be present in class during the oral presentation of their assignment. If any group
member/members are not present during oral presentation, marks will be deducted for the group.
Each group will have a maximum of 20 minutes for their oral presentation. Penalty will apply for
groups exceeding the allowed time. Groups should use Microsoft PowerPoint to present their
work. Groups can use other aids such as video, audio or websites to enhance presentation, if
appropriate.
SUBMISSION
The group oral presentations will be held in class in weeks 9 and week 10. Groups will be
assigned to presentation date by the lecturer.
Every group must also submit a copy of their written report as follows:
Group Presentation submission on the day of Presentation.

Individual Reports submission will be on week 10 last day of the class via turn tin and
online

REMINDER
Plagiarism and cheating is not acceptable and harsh penalties will apply. This includes copying
from fellow students and from existing websites without adequate referencing.
PROJECT EVALUATION (30%)
Individual Written Report: 20%
Group Oral Presentation: 10%
