Jagalchi Market
The market runs between Ch'ungmu-dong and Namp'o-dong, right next to Pusan
Harbor. It actually has two main sections: one for fresh seafood, another for dried
seafood. The name of the area comes from Jagal (small rocks) and ch'i (a pure
Korean word describing villages next to the seashore). Originally, the area had
many small rocks. In modern times, a wharf has been built and much of the area is
concrete and lined with buildings, so no trace of the namesake remains. Every year,
the Jagalchi Festival celebrates the area and its products

Gwangboro Fashion Street

Located in Gwangbok-dong, Busan, this street captures the heart of fashion, art,
culture, and shopping in Busan. As Busan's Myeong-dong, it stretches from the
escalator entrance (ascending to Yongdusan Park) to Gukje Market.
Across from the site of the yearly Pusan International Film Festival, Gwangbokdong Cultural & Fashion Street is full of shops selling everything from bargains to
luxury items. Decorated with splendid lighting, abundant flowerbeds, pleasant
resting spots, and exquisite sculptures, the street is one of the most popular places
among domestic and international tourists to shop and walk around in Busan.

Taejongdae Park
Designated as a Busan monument, along with Oryukdo Island, Taejongdae ()
represents Busan, and is especially famous for its rock beach. Featuring its highest peak at
250 meters, there are forests of pine trees and other 200 varieties of trees. Taejongdae was
named after the 29th king of Silla Kingdom BC57-AD 935), King TaeJong Mu-Yeol (604-661).
King TaeJong had traveled to many places but this was the place he enjoyed shooting
arrows.
Under the lighthouse of this resort is a rock called Sinseon Rock, named after the myth that
gods and goddesses came down here to relax. At this rock is a figure called Mangbuseok,
named after the story of a woman who waited for her husband who had been taken to
Japan. Taejongdae is also famous for the ritual of praying for rain, performed when there
are droughts, and rain on the 10th of lunar May is called the 'Taejong Rain'. On days with
clear skies you can see Japans Tsushima Island from the observatory.

Haeundae Beach
Haeundae Beach () is probably the most famous beach in the country.
"Haeundae" was so named by scholar Choi Chi-Won (857~?) of the Silla Kingdom (BC 57~AD
935). When he was walking past Dongbaekdo Island, he was fascinated by it and left the
carved words "Hae Un Dae" on a stone wall on the island. Haeundae is 1.5 km long,
30~50m wide, and spans an area of 58,400. The white sand is rough and sticks easily to
your skin. The sand of this beach is composed of sand that comes from Chuncheon Stream
and shells that have been naturally eroded by the wind over time. Haeundae Beach is also
famous for the various cultural events and festivals held throughout the year. At Haeundae
Beach there is a Folk Square where you can enjoy traditional games such as neoldduigi
(seesaw jumping), Korean wrestling, tuho(arrow throwing), tug-of-war and yutnori. There is
also the Beach Culture Center and the Beach Library. Numerous people visit every year
from June to August.

Seomyeon Food Market/Seomyeon

As one of the busiest streets in Busan, Seomyeon 1 Beonga is also known as the Art Street.
It stretches over 330m (8m in width) connecting former Cheonujang and the LG Service
Center.
The street is bustling with life all day long, full of cafes, bars, and restaurants that offer
delicious, but inexpensive food and drinks; naturally, it attracts many young people. In
addition, it offers a wide array of entertainment spots such as movie theaters, performance
halls, and game facilities. Every spring and fall, the street hosts fun festivals and
performances, making it the most popular street in Busan. During weekends, diverse
cultural events are held, providing visitors with an opportunity to enjoy street performances
and plays as well as get themselves painted by artists. Both Koreans and international
tourists are frequently seen on the street.

ROAD

DETAILS

1. Hagwi ~Aewol
Course

Take Ilju Road from Jeju City to Hallim, and turn towards the ASEA Broadcasting Station
in Hagwi-ri. There is seven-kilometer drive course showing a wonderful view of the black
lava shoreline, emerald beach and rare wild flowers. You can stop at the observation
platforms or cafes and relax in a picturesque setting. On days when the waves are high,
it is great to watch them crashing over the rocks.

2. Mt. Songaksan ~ Mt.

Sanbangsan Course

It is a wonderful drive course about 5.6 kilometers. If your car is smaller than a 12-passenger
van then drive up Mt. Songaksan for some peaceful ocean scenery and fabulous views of
Hyeongjeseom Island and Mt. Sanbangsan. It is also worth going to Yongmeori (Dragon Head
Shore) and the Hamel Monument, both at the base of Mt. Sanbangsan. Hendrick Hamel was a
shipwrecked Dutch sailor who spent many years in Japan and Korea around the turn of the
17th century before returning home and writing Europe's first report about Korea

3. Sinsan-ri ~ Seongsan
Inchulbong (Sunrise
Peak) course

Along Road 12 from Pyoseon to Seongsan, is an SK fuel station. Pass it and take the coastal
road to Sinyang Beach, Seopjikoji, and Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak). Also enjoy
gathering shells and strolling around at a fishing spot along the shore in Jongdal-ri. Along the
coastal road you can see stone towers that look like they might be breakwaters, but actually
built by people who believe this effort will help grant their special wishes.

4. Sehwa ~ Seongsan
Inchulbong (Sunrise
Peak): recommended

A habitat of the munjuran (Crinum), Tokkiseom Islet is about 1.6 kilometers from Sehwa on the
way to Seongsan. You can walk to the islet at low tide, but don't linger too long or you might
get your trouser legs wet wading back to the mainland. Two kilometers up the road is the bird
habitat Hadori, quite well known; stepping across the stones to the islet here imparts a
marvelous feeling that will bring you back to do it again. Continuing along the curving road is
an observation platform in Jongdal-ri, made of an old ship from which you can see Udo Island
and the magnificent Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak).

Introduction

Myeong-dong () is one of the primary shopping districts in Seoul. The two main drags meet in the
center of the block with one beginning from Myeong-dong Subway Station (Seoul Subway Line No. 4) and
the other from Lotte Department Store at Euljiro. Many brand name shops and department stores line the
streets and alleys. Common products for sale include clothes, shoes, and accessories. Unlike Namdaemun or
Dongdaemun, many designer brands are sold in Myeong-dong. In addition, several major department stores
include Lotte Department Store, Shinsegae Department Store, Myeong-dong Migliore, Noon Square and M
Plaza. The department stores carry many premium labels and other fashionable goods at reasonable prices.
Myeong-dong also has family restaurants, fast food, plus Korean, Western and Japanese dining options.
Many restaurants in Myeong-dong specialize in pork cutlet (donkas) and kalguksu (thick noodles). Other
businesses include hair salons, banks and theaters. Myeongdong Catholic Church is also a well-known
tourist attraction. It is pillar of the Catholic church in Korea and was built in the Gothic style. Behind the
church is a quiet space for relaxation.

Seoul NanSan Park

Mt. Namsan is a symbolic mountain located at the center of Seoul. Although not as high as other
surrounding mountains, Mt. Namsan is a very popular nonetheless as a resting site. At the top, there are
various facilities such as Palgakjeong (octagonal hall), Seoul Tower, Maritime Aquarium, fountains, and
Namsan Library. You may take a cable car to the top or walk up the stairway path. Other than this path,
there are many other walkways to Namdaemun, Hoehyun-dong, Taegyero 3(sam)-ga, Jangchung Park,
Itaewon, Huam-dong and much more. The driving courses here are also popular for couples.
Namsan Park is a historical site. You will find Bonghwadae (beacon mound) at the top as it was once the
center of capital defense. During the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) the capital was changed to
Hanyang,(current Seoul) and to protect the city from invasions, castle walls were built on the 4 major
mountains like Mt. Bukaksan, Mt. Inwangsan, Mt. Naksan and Mt. Namsan. On Namsan peak, five beacons
were built to report the news from local governments to the central government with a five-signal system.
Also on the top of Mt. Namsan, there is the Palgakjeong Pavilion, which has a fantastic view. At Seoul Tower
(479.7m), you can view the whole landscape of Seoul and the West Sea beyond Incheon. The rotating
restaurant in the Seoul Tower also boasts excellent views. With excellent night view, you should try having
dinner at the tower. It would be a great experience to visit Namsangol Traditional Korean Village which is a
village of 5 traditional Korean houses.

NamDaeMun Market
Namdaemun Market, located in the very center of Seoul, is the biggest traditional market in Korea selling
children's clothing, men & women's clothing, daily miscellaneous goods, kitchenware and local and
imported products. Most shops have their own factories and make the products themselves offering both
wholesale and retail prices which enable visitors to purchase various shopping items at extremely
inexpensive prices. Foreign visitors to Namdaemun Market show different tastes: the Japanese are more
into foods like gim (seaweed), gimchi, and ginseng, while the Chinese show interest in clothing and
miscellaneous goods. On the other hand, most tourists from the West simply enjoy the ambience of the
traditional market. Hours vary by store, so it's advisable to plan in advance according toa shopping list
before you start actual shopping.

Trick Eye Museum ()

The Trickeye Museum is an art gallery with paintings created using 'trompe l'oeil'
techniques that give each 2D art piece the illusion of being in 3D. Instead of merely
viewing paintings (as in a typical art gallery) visitors can interact with the paintings,
posing themselves just right so that they look as if they are part of the original work. To
ensure that even its busiest patrons have time to enjoy the fun, the museum stays open
each day until 9PM, making it a popular date and hang-out place.
Outside of the main exhibition hall is a main square that is decorated like the Santorini in
Greece. In addition to classy fountains and decorations, the main square is also home to
the museum caf, 'Caf Santorini,' which serves up scrumptious organic coffee and
other beverages.
