Hale ‘Oluea, a rehabilitation program designed


to help members recovering from mental ill-
ness, build on their strengths, capabilities, and
turning from isolation/dependency to self-
reliance and productivity.

made a request of the WLC to donate men’s
clothing. Six Lions from our club stepped up
on April 6, 2010, (during our GM meeting),
and donated nearly 100 pieces of man’s cloth-
ing, that included t-shirts, polo shirts, aloha
shirts, full length pants, shorts and footwear.

Policy Number 6 Dues & Fees, changes (approved)

DUES:

1. The club Secretary shall mail out annual dues invoices to all members by April 15,
each year, with a stated due date of May 15.

2. It is the responsibility of every member to inform the club President or the club
Secretary by May 15, if he/she does intend to renew their membership.

3. If a member is unable to pay his/her dues in full by May 15, he/she can call the
club Secretary to arrange to pay his/her dues in installments, with half of the
amount due on May 15, and the remaining half on November 15.

4. If a member fails to pay his/her dues in full by May 15, and does not make an
arrangement with the club Secretary to pay his/her dues in installments, he/she
may be dropped from member effective June 1, subject to Board action.

5. Active members, Members at Large, Privileged, Honorary, and Affiliate Member’s


dues will be set in accordance with the International Association of Lions Club’s
Constitution and By-Laws.

6. Life Members shall pay Club and District dues only. Associate members shall pay
Club dues only.

FEES:

1. Initiation, reinstated or transfer member fees shall be as required by the Interna


tional Association of Lions Clubs.

Later that evening at the District Governor’s ban-


quet, the Akaka Falls Lions gave us a chicken
skin performance. Their absolutely marvelous
rendition of what else, Akaka Falls, was met with
thunderous ovation from an appreciative crowd.
DG Alan’s club and its talented group of singers,
dancers and musicians gave a performance that
was totally electrifying. Wow, and right after that
they showed us some great moves in dancing to
the tune of The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

America’s most charming cities. The 74th District
50 Lions Convention was held at Hilo Hawaiian
Hotel, which gave us spectacular views of the
wonders of Crescent City.

Coconut Island and majestic Mauna Kea. Our
early morning walks energized us as we walked
by Banyan Drive, Liliuokalani Gardens and Hilo
Harbor.

Wild celebration took place after VDG Chris Ta-


mura’s acceptance speech as our next District
Governor. The parade saw Lions wildly celebrat-
ing this happy occasion, marching to the tune of
Hilo March. We were accompanied by the incom-
