The State Dinner’s Menu and Guest List

By PETER BAKER

As President Obama and Michelle Obama host their second state dinner, this
one for President Felipe Calderón of Mexico, they may be without the
company of the gatecrashing Salahis, but they have a few other notables on
the guest list.

Aside from all the usual White House officials, cabinet secretaries and
members of Congress, guests expected to be on-hand include Whoopi
Goldberg, the actress and comedian; Mark Sanchez, the quarterback with the
New York Jets; Eva Longoria Parker of the television show “Desperate
Housewives;” and George Lopez, the comedian and talk show host.

Others invited include Justice Anthony Kennedy, Mayor Antonio

Villaraigosa of Los Angeles and Carlos Slim, the Mexican businessman.
Entertaining will be Beyonce, Rodrigo y Gabriela and the United States
Marine Band.

Here is the menu and wine list that Rick Bayless, the guest chef from
Chicago’s Topolobampo restaurant, is expected to serve on the Clinton and
Eisenhower china:

Jicama with Oranges, Grapefruit, and Pineapple

Citrus Vinaigrette
Ulises Valdez Chardonnay 2007 “Russian River”

Herb Green Ceviche of Hawaiian Opah

Sesame-Cilantro Cracker

Oregon Wagyu Beef in Oaxacan Black Mole

Black Bean Tamalon and Grilled Green Beans
Herrera Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 “Selección Rebecca”

Chocolate-Cajeta Tart
Toasted Homemade Marshmallows
Graham Cracker Crumble and Goat Cheese Ice Cream
Mumm Napa “Carlos Santana Brut” N/V
