Homoeopathy is Science and Art

Being the most semantic era of the human history, each and
every aspect of human life is undergoing drastic conceptual
changes. The concept of man as a whole is fast replacing the
previous view of the patient as a fragmented diagnostic entity
(separated into parts, each carrying a specific ailment or
diagnostic category). Patients cannot be viewed in fragments
without violating fundamental and universal laws of nature. Each
person is seen as a whole and functioning as a totality in relation
to the surrounding universe. Laws governing nature and the
universe are not separate from those governing the functions of
living organisms.
The human body is controlled by a dynamic force that is vital
force which animates, guides, and balances the organism at all
levels in both health and disease. It maintains the harmony of life
preserving sensations and functions. Catabolism and anabolism
balance each other out through constant activity. Health is thus
defined as a state of well being, governed by an invisible dynamic
force, in which every cell, every tissue, every organ and part of
body performs its function normally, harmoniously and so
smoothly that the consciousness is not aware of organs and
parts, thoughts and ideas flow freely and reasoning is clear and
logical.
A critical analysis of hahnemannian concept of health clearly
depicts that it is very similar to the Modern concept of health
including WHO. What Hahnemann conceptualized more than
200yrs back is now being accepted by the modern science.

WHOs definition of health envisages three dimensionsphysical, mental, and social well being.
Homeopathy is a reliable medicinal practice through which a
patients individual system can be set to a balanced order or
homeostasis and thus on road to recovery. Patients are seen as
complete units encompassing mental, emotional and physical
dimensions, all of which must form one well balanced whole.
HOMOEOPATHY AS SCIENCE..
Homoeopathy can produce spectacular results. Some may go as
far as to say it does wonders and it can do so through its science
and not through miracles!!! It works because it is based on simple
but profoundly insightful and infallible natural laws and principles,
the immutable pillars of our science. Laws and principles never
die, but are one of the essential truths, a true foundation.
Science is a body of laws or principles, body of truths or realities,
exact knowledge of proximate causes or in other words
knowledge reduced to a law and embodied in a system. Law, not
Rule because laws are made by infallible nature; whereas rules
are made by fallible human beings. Dr Samuel Hahnemann the
founder of homoeopathy made observations, got facts reported;
his observations were interlinked to the laws of nature then made
out inferences. The law was not his own choice. He chose the
scientific method for approval of his law. In more specific sense, a
law is a connecting link between two series of phenomenon which
demonstrate their inter relation and needs to be in harmony with
other laws. Hence, in homoeopathy, there exist the phenomena of
drugs related to the phenomena of diseases (knowledge of
application of drug knowledge to disease knowledgeaccording to Hahnemann) under the principles of similarity.
Homoeopathy as science rests fundamentally upon four general

principles: similarity, contrarity, proportionality and infinitesimality,

reducible to the principle of homoeosis, or universal assimilation.
Since homoeopathy confirms to every requirement of these
general authoritative definition of science, it is indisputable that it
is a science. Fixed principle and laws never fail and change too. It
is a homoeopath who fails not the pathy or the science. These
havent mastered the principle authority and this usually leads
them to failure. Experience has a role in science, but only by the
way of confirming results.
Homeopathy works on nanotechnology: Also a clinical
evidence for this medical science and its way of treatment has
come up as a research at MAHATMA GANDHI UNIVERSITY has
claimed that homoeopathic medicines contains nano particles that
are vital for medical treatment. The study by Dr E.S Rajendran at
nano science lab at the International Interuniversity Center for
Nano Science and Technology, MG University, on metallic gold
or aurum metallicum has proved this said Dr Rajendran and Prof
Sabu Thomas, honorary director of MGU center who is a Polymer
Scientist. The dilutions were studied under high resolution
transmission electronic microscope (HRTEM) and energy
dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and we are in position to prove
the presence of nano particles in all the high dilutions of
homoeopathic drugs- said by DR E.S RAJENDRAN. Similar
study by Dr Jayesh Bellare of IIT- Bombay in 2010 also
demonstrated the presence of nano particles in homoeopathic
medicines. Drugs like Lycopodium and Psorinum were also
studied in lab at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, with
similar results in 2014.
HOMOEOPATHY AS ART ..
Art and Science are inseparably bound together. Every art has its
foundation in science and every science finds its expression in

art. The art of Homoeopathy is the ability to apply law of similar to

find the correct remedy. If the law of similars is applied accurately
the remedies act swiftly and thoroughly. Man is characterized
mainly by how he thinks and what he loves, in other words his will
and understanding guide him through life. There are two main
parts which form his core. A diseased person manifests himself by
signs and symptoms some are physical, some emotional and
some mental. It is a state or condition of the whole person not his
particular organ or system. Disease is the abnormal altered state
due to dynamic derangement of Vital force. Unbalanced vital force
creates a totality of symptoms and signs, which is the only way
that disease expresses themselves. The symptoms and signs are
only materialistic expression of diseased state . No disease
expresses itself with a single symptom. Thus, patients disease
symptoms should be given least priority. Homoeopathy heals from
inside out and physical symptoms tend to be last to appear on the
surface. By removing the external physical symptoms alone, the
real internal cause of disease gets suppressed at the risk of
symptoms resurfacing differently and invariably more severely. A
true homoeopath is one who perceives this totality of symptoms.
He has to be patient, gentle, tolerant, unprejudiced and a keen
observer and listener, and this is where art comes in.
He must observe and perceive more particularly, the symptoms
that the patient unknowingly tries to conceal, because he cannot
relate or becomes so use to his long sufferings that he pays little
attention and consider it to be a habit or part of his usual life
(Accessory symptoms of disease). He should have an art or
that skill to take out such characteristic symptoms from the
patients within. Altered states like actions, sensations, emotions,
behaviours and feelings that the patient would not normally have
in healthy state, are the true evidences of a disease.

Case taking in homoeopathy is the basic tool of this art. A

physician should master his skills and art also in case taking of
those people who belong to the group of Hypochondriac,
Indolent, Shy and Intellectual. As in such people it is difficult to
get out any characteristic symptom easily.

At present, nearly all so-called allopathic wonder drugs are

failing. Bacteria have become more resistant resulting in reduced
efficacies of antibiotic drugs, new viruses are still on increase,
diseases are occurring in spite of vaccinations, and the long term
side effects of allopathic drugs are being realized.
Interest in homoeopathy has seen an increase in toll in recent
years. There are more than one hundred thousand practitioners
worldwide, hundreds of colleges and pharmacies and indeed
many governments have given homoeopathy a legal status on a
par with that of allopathy. An increased understanding of energy,
physics and technological improvements combined with
conceptual advances have led homoeopathic research in new
directions that are already bearing fruits.
