BACKGROUND
Horizon 2020
Horizon 2020 is the EU framework programme
for research and innovation having a budget of
nearly EUR 80 billion for the period 2014-2020
Article 7 of Horizon 2020 Regulation governs
the association to the programme
Legal entities from Associated Countries (AC) can
participate under the same conditions as legal
entities from the Member States (MS)
15 countries are associated to Horizon 2020 as
of 29 April

Support is provided for the development of partnerships in
the form of joint research and innovation activities between
the participants implemented through secondments of
research and innovation staff ("exchanges").

Stimulate regional, national or international programmes to
foster excellence in researchers' training, mobility and career
development, spreading the best practices of Marie SkodowskaCurie actions.
What?
Co-funding new or existing regional, national, and
international doctoral or fellowships programmes.
Programmes promote international, intersectoral and
interdisciplinary mobility, while providing open recruitment
and attractive working conditions to researchers.

Opportunities
Mono-beneficiary located in MS or AC: any organisation
(academic or non-academic) funding and/or managing
doctoral or post-doctoral programmes which can recruit,
supervise, host or train researchers during the action
Or participate as a Partner organisation
Host researchers other than only nationals or long-term
residents of a MS or AC
As a researcher, benefit from a broader range of host
countries during the outgoing phase (with now Third
countries also included as possible hosts)
For refugees under the Geneva Convention, the refugee procedure (i.e. before
refugee status is conferred) will not be counted as period of residence/activity in
the country of the beneficiary
Applies from 3 November 2015 to all current and future projects in ITN, IF, COFUND
science4refugees initiative:
Aims to enable a match-making process between refugees and asylum seekers with
a background in science and scientific institutions that declare themselves to be
"refugee-welcoming organisations"
