What is Kiwano ?

Kiwano origin from Southern Africa, but then recently has been introduced to Australia and
New Zealand. Kiwano name is picked up from Australia and New Zealand due to its similar
consistency and appearance to kiwis. However, this fruit is not biologically linked to kiwis,
and is actually closer in nutritive and evolutionary terms to cucumbers and zucchinis.The
others name for kiwano are called as horned melon and Cucumis metuliferus.1 Kiwano has an
orange rind with prominent spikes. To eat plain, cut the fruit in half, gently squeeze one half
until the slime-covered seeds ooze out. The seeds arent harmful to eat, but many people
prefer to hold the seeds between their teeth and suck off the green flesh. Kiwano are mild in
flavor and similar in taste to juicy, seed-filled cucumbers, it can be tossed in fresh fruit salads
or served as a garnish with roasted meats.
