Use of a distance sensor and data logger to generate graphs of SHM

1. Damped oscillations of SHM Amplitude decreases exponentially with

time due to the frictional force (air resistance) in the opposite direction
to the direction of motion.

2. Resonance When the mass-spring system was driven at its own

natural frequency, resonance took place. Maximum energy transfer at
resonance is depicted by the high amplitude oscillations.
