CHAPTER: I
INTRODUCTION TO STUDY
1.1 INTRODUCTION
Internet is increasingly used by banks as a channel for receiving instructions and delivering
their products and services to their customers. Different banks follow different levels for
providing services on internet.
Internet Banking lets you handle many banking transaction via your personal computer. For
instance, you may use your computer to view your account balance, request transfer
between accounts and pay bills electronically etc.

1.2 OBJECTIVES OF STUDY


1. To study the effect of internet banking sector on the Indian economy.
2. To study its impact on banking habits of individuals.
3. To understand Internet Banking as a facilities offered by the banks to its customers.
4. To analyse what are the influences of internet banking on the customers.

1.3 IMPORTANCE OF STUDY


This study is needed to find out working of internet banking of all banking function and its
importance to customer as well as bank.

1.4 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY


1.4.1 Method of Data Collection
i. Primary Data
The sources of primary data were questionnaire and personal interviews.
Source: Customer survey through questionnaire.
ii. Secondary Data
The sources of data were Internet, books and newspapers articles.
Source: Book of Reserve Bank of India
Internet Websites.

1.4.2 Sampling/ Sample Size & Data Analysis


The questionnaires were given into the hand of people at their doorstep or else the
answers of questions were collected on telephone conversation and to some people
it was emailed to their e-mail id for their responses.
Sample size= 80
DATA ANALYSIS
On the basis of responses of people on given questionnaires I have made analysis
and have given the form pie-chart of the same data.

Interpretation:
90 % people use Internet Banking.
It is good for the banks as most of the respondents were aware of the Internet Banking and
all the services provided under Internet Banking

CONCLUSION

People are not confident enough to whether to rely completely on online banking.
There is hesitancy in their minds with regards to preference. So they use both the

techniques of banking i.e. Online and Traditional.


Because of the complexity and the unawareness in the people regarding the online

banking, there is less utilization of the online banking services provided by the banks.
People are not sure whether their account is completely secured in online banking.
Security concern is the main and the core reason why people do not tend to use
online banking.

People in India are not aware of the full utility of online banking and the
services that can be availed of in online banking.
Most of the Indian populations are salaries employees who do not have
that Volume of transaction that can be used for online transaction.
