theCPLfortheenginebeingserviced.Someof
thenewerK50engineshavecamshaftsthat
causetheenginetohaveadifferentfiringorder.
Recordthepartnumberstampedontheendof
thecamshaftforfuturereference.
UseLubriplatetolubricateeachcamshaftand
allofthecamshaftbushingscompletely.
WARNING
Thiscomponentweighsgreaterthan23kg[50
lb].Topreventseriouspersonalinjury,besure
tohaveassistanceoruseappropriatelifting
equipmenttoliftthiscomponentorassembly.
CAUTION
Donotdamagethecamshaftbushingswhen
installingthecamshaft.Thebushingswillfail.
Usecamshaftpilot,PartNumber3376280.
Installthetwocamshafts.
Turnthecamshaftsclockwiseand
counterclockwiseasyoupushthemin.
Alignthetimingindexmarksthatweremade
beforethecamshaftswereremoved.
Ifnecessary,rotatethecamshaftsothatthe
holesinthecamshaftallowaccesstothe
capscrewholesinthethrustplate.
Installthetwocapscrewsandlockplates.
TorqueValue:45n.m[33ftlb]
Useadialindicator.Theclearancemustbethe
sameasmeasuredduringcamshaftinspection.
Measuretheclearance.

Theadjacent(engaging)gearmustnotturnas
thegearthatisbeingmeasuredisturned.

thegears.
Rotatethegearbeingmeasuredclockwise.
Positiontheindicatorat"0".Rotatethegear
counterclockwise.Readtheindicator.

Thecamshaftkeyprovidesameansofindexing
thecamshaftwiththegear.
Offsetkeysallowthecamshaftprofiletobe
rotatedslightlywhilethegeartraintimingremains
thesame.
Themorethetopoftheoffsetismovedinthe
directionofthecamshaftnormalrotation,the
moretheinjectiontimingwillberetarded.The
pushrodtravelnumericalvaluewillincrease.
ThedirectionofnormalrotationofaK38orK50
enginecrankshaftisclockwiseasviewedfrom
thefront.
Bendeachlockplatetopreventthecapscrews
fromloosening.
