Inallcriticalprocessandpowerplantunitsuseofspringhangersisquite
common.Thesearemostlyusednearequipmentstobringnozzleloadswithin
vendorallowablevalues.Purchasingaspringhangermustservetheappropriate
functionofcarryingtheloadswithinitsworkingrangewithoutfailure.Tomaintain
thequalityofspringhangersthehangersmustmeetseveraltechnicalandgeneral
requirements.Thisarticlewillmentionaboutfewsuchimportantpoints.Formore

Thefollowingrequirementsataminimummustbemetbythevendorwhile
deliveringthespringhangersupports:
Springsupportmechanicaldesign,material&fabricationshallbeperformed
bythevendoraccordingtoMSSSP58unlessspecifiedotherwiseinthis
specification.
SpringsupportshallmeettherequirementsoftheMSSSP69,Pipe
HangerandSupportsSelectionandApplication,unlessspecified
otherwiseinthisspecification.
SpringsupportshallmeettherequirementsoftheMSSSP89,PipeHangerandSupportsFabricationandInstallationPractices,
unlessspecifiedotherwiseinthisspecification.
SpringsupportshallbesuppliedinlinewiththerequirementsspecifiedinDatasheet.
Springsupportassemblyshallbedesignedtowithstand10000plusloadreversalsatmaintainedconsistency.
Allpartsofthespringsupportassemblyshallbedesignedtowithstand2timestheoperatingloadorhydrotestload,whicheveris
higher.
AllalloysteelspringshallbeshotpeenedaspersupplementaryrequirementS3ofASTMA125.
AllHotwoundalloysteelspringsshallbeexaminedbymagneticparticleaspersupplementaryrequirementS2ofASTMA125.
Springshallhaveasurfaceprotectioncoatingsuitableforsalinecoastalconditionse.g.plasticcoating.
EachspringsupportshallbefactorypresetandlockedtothecoldloadgiveninDatasheet.
Allspringsupportsshallbeprovidedwithalockingdevice(bolt&nuttype)whichmustbedesignedtorelockthespringsupportatany
loadpositionwithintherangeofthemodel.
Allspringsupportshallbeprovidedwithmeansofpositivelyandfirmlylockingthepistonplateforhydrostatictestingofthepipe.
AllcantypespringsupportsshallhaveTeflonpadontopslideplateofspringfortemperatureupto200C.Thethicknessofpads
shallbeminimum10mmforTeflonand12.5mmforgraphite.Itshallbefirmlysecuredbywelding50mmwideX8mm(10mmincase
ofGraphite)stopperplatestotheloadflange.AdditionalTeflonpadshallbegluedwithadhesive.
Allspringshallbeeffectivelyenclosedinrobustcasingconstructedofsteelwhichistobeprovidedwith50X50mmopeningat
thelowestpointinthecasingtodrainanyrainwaterorothergarbage/liquidwhichmayenter.
Forliftinglargesizespringsupport(withadeadweightofmorethan50Kg),liftinglugsshallbeprovided.
Allspringsshallhaveanaffixedloadandtravelplateonwhichhotandcoldpositionsareclearlymarked.Thepositionplateshallhave
anintegralpointertoindicatetheloadonthespringatanytime.Theloadmaybeindicatedbypunchingalso.
Manufacturershallsubmitspringsupportassemblydrawingwithhotload,coldload,springconstantandallthedimensionsin
detailindicatingoveralllength.
Allspringsupportshallbedeliveredasacompleteassembly,completewithblockingdeviceinstalled.
TheVendorshallcomplywiththeinspection&testingrequirementsofMSSSP58.
ThePurchaserandCompanyreservetherighttocarryoutqualityandtechnicalreviewatbothSuppliersandSubSuppliersworks
includingreviewofqualitydocumentation.
Testreportsforallmandatory(aswellassupplementary,whereverspecified)testsshallbefurnished.
Thesuppliershallprovidewarrantyforthematerialforeighteen(18)monthsfromthedateofdeliveryortwelvemonthfromthedateof
commissioningwhicheverislonger.
