III. COURSE DESCRIPTION:


This is a training course for advance listening and speaking skills in
English. The introductory sessions deal with the basic elements and purposes of
communication in general and speech in particular, models of speech communication,
and types of listening. Listening and speaking exercise in a variety of situation are
engaged in. Among the skills honed in the course are those necessary for effective oral
reports, panel discussion, role playing, interviews, and debates.
IV. COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the semester, the students will be able to:
1. Identify the different elements of communication process and theories and apply this
knowledge in varied context.
2. Learn the skills on how to become an effective communicator.
3. Apply effective verbal, non-verbal, listening and responding skills in interpersonal,
group and public context.
4. Learn how to plan, organize, deliver and evaluate speeches and presentation.
