FIELD DIRECTOR

Position Description
We are looking for a talented individual with leadership experience and a proven track
record of developing and implementing campaigns and field plans rooted in
transformational organizing and strategies for building longterm power.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Campaign Development and Implementation
Operationalize Dream Defenders strategy and vision for building statewide
power in Florida
Develop and implement organizing and campaign planning processes with Dream
Defenders members
Write and implement a comprehensive, data-driven field plan and build and
manage a field leadership team to execute
Work with staff and members to develop and track organizing goals and metrics
based on key indicators to advance Dream Defenders strategy
Supervise, train and coach organizers in advancing Dream Defenders strategy
and campaigns
Develop work plans and systems to monitor and track Dream Defenders strategy
Anticipate, problem solve and respond to internal and external challenges and
opportunities
Support grassroots fundraising efforts to advance campaigns
Development of Dream Defenders Organizing Model
Track, monitor and evaluate Dream Defenders organizing model
Develop innovative organizing tactics rooted in local, relationship-based
transformational organizing strategies

FIELD DIRECTOR

Create and coordinate the membership recruitment strategy for Dream Defenders
campaigns and projects. Design initiatives and activities to expand our membership
and squadd base
Conduct internal assessments of Dream Defenders organizational capacity, both
as a whole and among our individual chapters and members, to advance campaigns
and provide one-on-one coaching to address needs
Establish a strong professional culture within the field strategy focused on
accountability, goal setting and innovative tactics
Work with the organizations Training and Membership Development Director
to develop and implement political education, training and leadership
development programs to prepare members to execute the organizational
strategy
Coalition Building
Conduct partnership and coalition building activities with local, statewide and
national leaders and organizations to advance Dream Defenders strategy and
build connections in our efforts to dismantle the prison industrial complex
Develop joint organizing campaigns in conjunction with statewide and national
networks, coalition partners and allies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Demonstrated experience strategizing and developing campaigns related to the
prison industrial complex, immigrant rights, worker rights, civil liberties, racial
justice, and/or human rights on a local, statewide or national level
Extensive experience supervising, training and coaching organizers with varied
levels of experience and supporting them in advancing campaigns
Experience leading a team in developing and executing field plans that advance
broader organizational strategies and campaign goals
Expertise in direct action, transformational and cultural organizing
Experience in under-18 youth organizing

Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; successful at motivating leaders to
meet goals
An ability to work well with others in a highly collaborative, fast paced and everchanging environment
Excellent supervisory and managerial skills
Excellent analytic skills, with a proven ability to support strategic decision
making
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience working in collaborative decision-making environments
Strong networking and coalition-building skills
Familiarity with human rights, civil liberties, racial justice, immigrant rights,
and/or other relevant social justice issues
Fluency in Spanish or Haitian Creole preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This job will require frequent travel, setting up and facilitating trainings/workshops,
relational organizing in a hyper-local community-based setting, building relationships
with partners, attending statewide and national conferences and meetings, development
of reports and carrying materials/boxes (up to 20lbs.)
The Field Director is an exempt position. Exempt employees are expected to work the
appropriate and necessary time in order to complete key assignments and related tasks
on schedule.
