BARDIAS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The school plays a very important role in the lives of the pupil. It is in the school where
they learn most of their first. The school is an institution holding a great bulk of
responsibility in shaping the minds of the pupils who will be the future leaders and work
force of our nation.
Bardias Elementary School is in its quest for academic excellence and its aim to
eradicate non-readers in the entire school. With a connection to this, I am conducting
remedial teaching to the slow reader/slow learner pupils during my free time. I used
flashcards, charts, textbooks and sentence strips in remedial teaching. The objective of this
is at the end of the school year, they will independent readers already and can understand
lessons faster.
Parent Reading Approach (PARA) was also intensified. The parents involvement in
school program particularly in reading helps the school achieve its mission and vision. In this
approach, the teacher provided some compilation of reading materials suited to the pupil.
The reading materials have a comprehension check up to be answered by the pupils. The
pupils will read one story per day and if they were able to read with speed and accuracy and
answer the assigned selection correctly, the parent will affix their signature signifying their
approval that their child is ready for the next selection/story.
Peer teaching and cooperative learning were also maximize. Fast learners will support
the slow learners. Pupils considered as fast learners were assigned and given the task of
mentoring their other classmates about the lessons where they are taking a hard time
catching up. In cooperative learning, small groups of pupils work together on a common task.
Cooperative learning encourages achievement, student discussion, active learning, student
confidence and motivation.
To enhance the vocabulary of the pupils, I Intensify the program Gain a Word a Day
(GAWAD) with supplementation of Filipino meaning of the word. Aside from these, I also give
a poem every week that will memorize by the pupils. In this process, the memorizations skills
of the pupils were strengthened and their vocabulary widens.

The Grade III Gumamela also implemented some practices that give a great impact on
the pupils. One of these is the observation of cleanliness in classroom and in school as a
whole. Cleanliness in school is very important for it shows proper discipline in garbage
segregations and in respect to nature. In this regard, the Supreme Pupil Government has
started the garbage segregation projects and follows by the pupils. We have constructed a
segregation tray which was divided into three parts; nabubulok, hindi nabubulok and
narerecycle. These segregated recyclable materials will be sold out.From this, the pupils
learned how to segregate their waste and become aware about the importance of cleanliness
and continue on doing so.
The above best practices were properly implemented and benefited both the teachers
and pupils.
