Book 2-1

Storyteller: Come on! Its story time, kids.

Now lets see. This story happened when
Caillou was only three and Rosie was just a
baby. Todays story is called Caillou Goes
Shopping.

Daddy: Caillou, time to get up! Its

snowing outside! Look!
Caillou: Yeah! I want to make a snowman.

Daddy: Lets get you dressed first. Now,

where are your sweaters?
Caillou: Then I want to wear these!
Daddy: If you wear shorts outside youll
feel as cold as a snowman.

Caillou: Theres no more cereal.

Mommy: Well get some when we go
shopping. And we need some eggs too,
because Im making a special surprise cake.

Caillou: Special surprise cake?

Caillou & his sister: Yeah!
Storyteller: Caillou and Rosie always like
Mommys special surprise cakes but they
never knew exactly what the surprise would
be.

Mommy: Caillou, its time to go to the

store. Put on your coat and boots.

Caillou: But Mommy, I want to play with

my dinosaur.
Mommy: You can play with him later.
Now, come on! We are waiting for you.
Storyteller: Caillou liked to go shopping
but he always took a long time to get ready
because he liked playing too.

Mommy: Caillou, get in the car, please!

Caillou: Are we gonna make a snowman?
Mommy: Well, yes! As a matter of fact, we
are.
Caillou: Yeah! A snowman!
Mommy: But right now, we have to get
going.

Caillou: Mommy I want to ride like Rosie.

Mommy: Okay! Lets get going, or there
wont be time to make that snowman.
Caillou: I want these!
Mommy: Caillou, were having a special
surprise cake, remember? So, we dont need
cookies too, okay?
Caillou: What is the special surprise cake?

Mommy: If I tell you, I will spoil the

surprise. Now, when we get to the
checkout, I want you to look after Rosie,
while I take care of the groceries.
Storyteller: All Caillou could think about
were those cookies; but he forgot exactly
where hed seen them. Before he knew it,
he was all alone, lost and feeling afraid.

Caillou: Mommy, Mommy! Where are

you? Mommy!
Mommy: Caillou, what happened?
Caillou: You run away.
Mommy: No, Caillou, you did. But Im
very glad we found you. Lets go home.

Storyteller: Caillou was still feeling upset!

But he was very happy to see his Mommy
and Rosie again.
Caillou: I didnt like it when I was lost,
Mommy.

Mommy: I didnt like it either, sweetie!

So, lets make sure you dont get lost
again. Now, lets finish making that special
surprise cake.
Caillou: but I wanted to make a snowman.
Mommy: Were going to make a snowman.
Only were gonna make him right here in
the kitchen.
Caillou: The special surprise
cake! Yeah!

Stor yteller: Caillou and Rosie were

absolutely right. They had guessed what
Mommys surprise was going to be.
Caillou: Mommy, look! He is really a
snowman.
Mommy: Then he must be cold. Lets give
him a scarf.
