Dear
We w rite this letter to you with concern about you r inappropriate conduct at
Law School.
Specifically, you have presented yourself on cam pus, on at least one occasion,
wearing a Black Lives M atter t-shirt. W e believe this is an inappropriate and
unnecessary statem ent that has no legitim ate place within our institution o f higher
learning. The statem ent you represented and endorsed is also highly offensive and
extrem ely inflam m atory. We are here to learn the law. W e do not spend three
years o f our lives and tens o f thousands o f dollars to be subjected to indoctrination
or personal opinions o f our professors.
Law School has prided itself on the diverse dem ographics represented
w ithin the student body. Your actions how ever, clearly represent your view that
some o f those dem ographics m atter more than others. That alienates and isolates
all non-black groups.
As som eone w ho is charged to teach criminal law, it should be abundantly clear to
you and beyond any question that ALL lives m atter, as it is expressed unequivocally
in the law. Furtherm ore, the Black Lives M atter statem ent is racist and anti-law
enforcem ent and has been known to incite violence in this country. As som eone
who is paid to teach the law , you should be asham ed o f yourself.
Your w illingness to w ear such an advertisem ent can only lead us to believe that you
are com pletely ignorant o f and uninform ed about the social ram ifications and
im plications surrounding the Black Lives Matter m ovem ent. People who support
that m essage have robbed, rioted and burned innocent businesses and attacked law
abiding peace officers who were charged with protecting A LL the dem ographics
you've succeeded in isolating.
W hile w e can appreciate your sacred right to the freedom o f speech, w e w ould
strongly urge you to seriously reconsider your actions. You should exercise a little
bit o f respect and restraint. This is not a political science class or college. W e are a
law school. W e have undertaken the very solem n duty to learn and respect the law.
We do not need the m indless actions o f our professors to distract and alienate us.
Just as our personal beliefs have no place in law exam s, your personal beliefs have
no place in the classroom .
Law School is experiencing an unprecedented decline in bar passage rate.
It is im perative that you utilize energy to actually teach law instead o f continue to
express hateful m essages.

Unfortunately, we feel that w e m ust deliver this message to you anonym ously. It is
clear that the opinions expressed within this letter are not w elcom e. If student body
opinions go against the school or faculty we fear there will be retaliation. In fact,
Law School adm inistration and faculty, including you, have shown no
sham e m displaying appalling levels o f discrim ination.
W e are hopeful the new adm inistration will rectify these abysm al failings and
shortcom ings. There is a lot o f w ork to be done to rectify situations such as these.
