Name of the Experiment: Study on Bar tack sewing machine & produce sample.
Introduction:
There are many ty pes of sewing machine. Some are used for special purposes such as bar-tack, button hole
attaching machine, button hole making machine etc. This ty pe of machines works in a cy cle and so these are
called simple automatic machine. Here we study on a ty pe of machine that is bar tack machine. Bar tack means
to increase strength of small length of fabric by sewing on it and then by repeating it. For ex ample belt loop,
opening of pocket. It is a simple automatic machine which produces stitches in a cy clic order.

Objectives:
1 . To know about the machine parts.
2. To know about the thread path.
3. To know about the parts of bar tack machine.
4. To know the working principle of this machine.
5. To know the SPM, TPI, needle name, needle size of this machine.

cy clically . At first doing tak stitch (1 -2 cm) then in opposite make cov er stitch (zigzag) on tak stitch. A little
change can be done between tack stitch and cov er stitch.

Working principle:
At first this machine produces tack stitches in a small length (1 -2 cm) and then sews cov ering stitches ov er and
at right angles to the first stitches. The v ariables are the number of tacking stitches and the number of cov ering
stitches. Ty pical uses are closing the ends of buttonholes, reinforcing the ends of pocket openings and the
bottoms of flies and sewing on belt loops. The adjustment points of this machine are needle, pressure feed, stitch
length, stitch density .

Uses of Bar Tack Sewing Machine:

1 . Attaching belt loops.
2. Increasing strength in corner of pocket.
3. Closing the two corners of button hole.
4. At the end of zipper.
5. In that place where more strength is needed to support ex tra load.

Conclusion:
This ty pe of machine can not be used for normal purpose. But for making a complete garment their importance
can not be denied. Special care and sufficient knowledge is necessary for proper working. Otherwise faulty
sewing may be done. I would like to giv e special thanks to our teacher. I am also grateful to our instructors. I
think this will be v ery helpful in my future life.
