MIXTEC TASK FORCE PRAYER REQUESTS July 2016

Ministries that Reach the Mixtec People Group

Pray for the 5 ministries that serve this people group and are sharing Christ with them both in word and
deed. Community of Hope, Every Tribe, FBC Caring Center, Forest Park Ministry Center and
Nehemiah Center.
Pray for FBC Caring Center as they are in the process of developing an International Welcome Center.
We will keep you all informed as it develops.
Pray for these MBA churches that have ongoing efforts to minister to the Mixtec people: Nueva Vida en
Christo, Ridgecrest Baptist, Vaughn Forest Hispanic, Yarbrough Street Baptist, Highland Gardens

Issues that Are Currently Affecting the Mixtec People

Pray for DACA and DAPA (immigration statuses). Things did not go so well. Pray for new ideas
and ways to help our families in Alabama and others across the U.S.
Pray for the presidential election. Their future will depend a great deal on the outcome. Pray for our
nation and its future work with immigrants. Pray for Alan Cross and he continues to learn about how to
help all immigrants across the southeast.

CURRENT Events Related to the Mixtec People

Pray for a series of gospel meetings for the Mixtec this summer. We will have a series of
meetings in different neighborhoods over a long weekend. The church planters name is Odilon
Mendoza. August 26-28th in various locations.
We will need a PRAYER TEAM who will be willing to pray and cover the planning and the events
leading up to the gospel meetings. Anyone? This would mean being on call over that weekend
to receive specific prayer requests as the meetings are going on and being willing to stop what
you are doing and pray!
Pray for the Storytelling Team. They are preparing to have some home Bible studies with storying
after the Gospel Meetings in August. Pray as they prepare. CJ, John W. John H. Russ R. Larry M.

Pray for the Mixtec People

Pray for a young boy who Rhonda knows who is very sick. He is in Childrens for at least 4 more weeks.
Pray for the family.
Pray for a godly man to build a friendship with Balthazar (Zar), a new believer in Christ, who is about 22.
Pray for Linda, Zars wife, she might have a job! She has already helped Baptist South and others.
Pray as Lisa disciples her in her faith walk and parenting. ALSO, she has the opportunity to get
her 4 year old into a preschool near her home.
Pray for the Antonia Berrera family from Forest Park neighborhood. They have disappeared.
Pray for Torino who was arrested recently.
Lisa and Russ hosted a Mixtec family for 4th of July in their home. It was a sweet time of fellowship and
got to meet some extended family of theirs. Everyone had a great time. Pray that this family will respond
to the friendship/discipleship relationship the Roses have with them.

Pray for the young middle schoolers who Donna and others at Forest Park are discipling. The middle
schoolers are now sharing the gospel with the younger children who come for tutoring/bible study.
Pray for Mixtec teenagers who desperately need support and guidance as they wade through middle
school and high school. Many of them are being bullied and harassed.
Praise for Eduardo who is 3rd grade who became a Christian through the tutoring ministry at Hopper
Gardens in June. Pray for someone to be his disciple.
Pray for Fernando, who is in 3rd grade, but reading on Kindergarten level. He needs a tutor who can
work with him at least one day a week to catch up. He has been tested and know what level he is on. He
lives at Hopper Gardens.
New group of Mixtecs coming from Mexico later this summer. Prayers for ways to minister and welcome
them. Mostly teens and 20 somethings probably landing in Hopper Gardens.
One of the kids at Hopper Gardens has the possible opportunity for a scholarship to St James School
here in Montgomery. Pray that will come through for her. Marivel is her name.
Pray for Jane and Rhonda as they continue to mentor many of the Mixtec kids and parents.
Pray for the Mixtec in Hopper Gardens and all across our city, that the deep spiritual strongholds in the
community will be lifted through the influence of all followers of Christ who come through the complex.
Pray for the teen that Lou Ann mentioned who was attacked at school last yearthe court date is
Tuesday July 12th for the kids who instigated the attack. Pray for the family as well.
Thank you to Gateway Baptist Church for helping with transportation for the Mixtec Vacation Bible
School and Heritage Baptist Church for DOING the VBS. Pray for opportunities for these churches to
minister to the kids and maybe the parents!

Mixtec Task Force Member Needs

Pray for summer ministries around our city that reach the Mixtec people.
Pray for our Director of Missions, Ken May, as he prepares for retirement and for the MBA search
committee as they seek a new Director of Missions.
Pray for Hallay Cagle, that her pregnancy will be healthy. She has a busy summer with Every Tribe.
Congratulations to Hallay and Bryant as they have been officially appointed as NAMB Mission
Service Corp Missionaries who will be raising their support. Prayers for them as they seek
financial support.
Pray for Larry Jenkins in the recent loss of his mother and not too long ago, his father.
Pray for Larry Montgomery who is having some health issues.
Pray for Frank Snowden as he ministers through his job as an immigration lawyer.
Several of our Task Force members are on vacation his week. Please keep them in your prayers as they
travel.
