ADAM HABER WILL FIGHT FOR CHILD VICTIMS ACT IN STATE

SENATE
Long Island, NY -- Today, New York State Senate candidate Adam Haber pledged to
sponsor and advocate for the passage of the Child Victims Act (S.63) as State Senator.
During the 2016 Legislative Session, the Senate Republican Majority blocked this
legislation which would have given justice to victims of child sex abuse and ensured that
the perpetrators of these horrific acts are prosecuted under the fullest extent of the law.
"Sponsoring and passing the Child Victims Act will be a top priority of mine as a State
Senator so that the victims of child abuse are able to get the justice that they deserve,
said Adam Haber. It's reprehensible that the Senate Republican Majority, led by Long
Island Senators, have been aggressively blocking the Child Victims Act that would help
protect our children and families while rightfully going after predators. It's also absolutely
concerning that these are the same politicians funding and running my opponent's
campaign."
The Child Victim's Act, which the Senate Republican Majority has purposely blocked
from being voted on, would eliminate both the criminal and civil statutes of limitation for
child sexual abuse. It would also provide a one-year window in the statute of limitations
that would enable victims whose voices have been silenced by the current misguided
laws to seek justice and the prosecution of their attacker.
Adam Haber concluded, This is a sad example of Albany choosing politics over people.
As a local School Board member, I know how important it is that we do everything
possible to protect our children. I look forward to the opportunity to pass the Child
Victims Act as State Senator.
