Roles & Responsibilities on Application Packaging and

Virtualization
This is a Windows XP to Windows 7 migration project and the roles involved are
converting the clients XP applications to production ready applications in
Windows 7. The project purpose is to make production ready applications either
as virtualized applications using AppV 5.0 or repackaged physical applications.
The tools used for repackaging is Install shield Admin studio 2012. The
responsibilities also include deploying the virtualized\repackaged applications
using SCCM for QA

Analysis of all application for migrating to Win 7 and windows server 2008 .

Imported all applications and check the compatibility with win 7 and
Windows Server 2008.

Fixed the compatible issues or upgraded some apps having drivers.

Creating packages (.MSI) and Transforms (.MST) using Install Shield

AdminStudio based on requirements.

Sequenced the application using APP-V 5.0.

Testing .MSI packages in a locked-down environment.

Used third party tools like Filemon, Regmon, processmon etc. to observe
application behavior and as part of troubleshooting process.

Creating Custom Actions in .MSI packages using VB/Batch scripting.

MSTs are created for Vendor Supplied MSI. Ensured MSTs are as per
packaging standards and error free functionality.

Used SETACL and CACLS for giving Permission on Files, Folders and
Registries.

Creating the Final Report Documentation for packages (.MSI Applications)

Deploying applications using on SCCM 2007.
