2 Course Objective

To understand the evolution and principle of CNC machine tools.


To describe constructional features of CNC machine tools.
To explain drives and positional transducers used in CNC machine tools.
To write simple programs for CNC turning and machining centres.
To generate CNC programs for popular CNC controller.
To describe tooling and work holding devices for CNC machine tools.

11 Specific Instructions to the students


Attendance to the class is very important. Regularity in attendance will help the student to latch on with the flow of the
course and will help the student to understand the lecture. Students are encouraged to freely clarify their doubts in the
class.The faculty is available in the department during the college hours and the student may meet for any discussion.
The student is strongly advised to take the tests conducted in the class very seriously. This will not only ensure catching
up with the subject closely as it progresses but will also help the student to secure good marks in the internal assessment.
