The department of ECE is equipped with communication systems lab for
conducting regular academic lab courses. Also the lab promotes research in Antenna design, Optical Communication and Wireless Networking. The following curriculum laboratory courses are being conducted in Communication systems lab.
1. Microwave and Optical Communication lab
Various experimental facilities like Horn antenna characterization, VSWR measurement systems, and Directional coupler study are included in the regular curriculum. 2. Analog Communication Lab Various modulation techniques including AM and FM systems are performed in the analog communication lab. The experiments are performed using discrete components which will enable students to develop an insight to the operation of communication systems. 3. Digital Communication Lab The lab offers both hardware and software based studies on various digital modulation techniques apart from the verification studies on fundamental coding techniques. We employ MATLAB scientific platform for digital modulation techniques performance analysis which was supported by the theoretical framework students learn in the theory class. The course enables students to develop a clear understanding on digital communication systems and its performance. The lab offers research facility for antenna for broadband applications and also promotes wireless and wired networking research. The microstrip kits and antennas along with the RF transmitters and amplifiers enable real time testing facilities. Communication Systems lab equipped with the following software for research. 1. QualNet for networking 2. MATLAB Version 7.2
