TEASER SCENE ONE
EXT. LOS ANGELES DAY
It is 9 a.m. in Los Angeles. The 101 Highway is experiencing its
usual rush-hour traffic jam, with the truck and car traffic
slowly moving into the city and heavy traffic leaving downtown
L.A. at a slow pace as well. Drivers are frustrated, elbows and
arms hanging out the windows as the vehicles creep along.
A black racing motorcycle, with a rider dressed in all black, is
weaving its way around traffic, followed by several police cars
that are slowed by the bumper-to-bumper traffic. Cars follow the
motorcycle along the shoulders when possible, but are falling
farther and farther behind.

An overhead helicopter is monitoring the action, following the

rider and reporting its location as it moves into Hollywood. The
bike pops off the highway at the Hollywood Bowl exit, where other
police cars attempt to chase it down. The rider makes several
sharp moves and uses the Bowl parking lot and park area to
escape, as the chopper loses its target in the heavy foliage and
even heavier traffic of the Highland Avenue area. The rider zips
up Camrose, makes a sharp turn into a nearby driveway and cuts
the engine.
An ice cream truck is parked in the driveway, and the rider
maneuvers the bike around to the rear. The doors pop open and a
young black woman, LETICIA BADDA WILLIAMSON, jumps down and
pulls out a ramp from underneath, then helps push the bike up and
pushes the ramp back in, closing the doors. She goes up to the
front, puts on a blue ball cap with COLD DAIRY ICE CREAM on it,
and gets into the drivers seat.
TEASER SCENE TWO
INT. ICE CREAM TRUCK DAY
Badda starts up the ice cream truck and begins driving slowly
down the street.
BADDA
You cut that one a little close. The cops are right on the
corner. What happened to that cushion of safety youre always
talking about?
Behind her, KATHERINE FACE GILBERT removes her helmet and the
leather riding gear. She is wearing a blue t-shirt that also
reads COLD DAIRY ICE CREAM on it. She puts on a matching cap
and moves up to sit beside BADDA.

FACE
Hey, I almost ate gravel about three miles back. You want to cut
me some slack?
BADDA
Ill cut you some slack when you start showing me some better
plans than this. Come on. Ice cream?

FACE
Whats wrong with an ice cream truck?
BADDA
Its so Eighties. Any vehicle in the area big enough to hide a
motorcycle is gonna raise suspicions. Hollywood Boulevard is two
blocks away. We probably aint even gonna make it that far.
FACE
Oh, she of little faith in the Old School ways! The things that
are right in front of you are the things that often escape your
attention. People see only what they want to see. Didnt this
last election teach you anything?
BADDA
Ha. How did the recon go?
FACE
Nobody was home. Brick walls, heavy trees and a solid fence to
discourage nosy neighbors. The security system was almost as big
of a joke as the passwords on the computers. Got in and out, no
problem.
BADDA
So then why, exactly, were you being followed, Baretta?
FACE
Eh, I mightve, kinda sorta, run a red light.
BADDA
Way to keep a low profile.
FACE
I know. Bobbys gonna have my ass for that.
BADDA
If she finds out.
FACE
Shell know. She always knows.
TEASER SCENE THREE
EXT. HIGHLAND AVENUE DAY
The ice cream truck moves steadily down Highland Avenue and
passes Hollywood Boulevard. Police cars race by it.

TEASER SCENE FOUR

INT. ICE CREAM TRUCK DAY
BADDA and FACE look at each other and smile.
FACE
Say it
BADDA
Fine. I bow to your Old School ways, Baretta.
FACE
Thank you. By the way, Baretta was Seventies. Not Eighties.
BADDA
Dont get cute.
FACE
Too late.
BADDA and FACE laugh. They fall silent as BADDAs cell phone
rings. She checks her phone and hands it over.
BADDA
I aint picking it up. Its your ass, not mine.
FACE
Great.
FACE opens up the call.
FACE
Good morning, its another happy day at Cold Dairy. How can I
help you?
VOICE OF BOBBY
Base. Now.
FACE
Affirmative.

FACE ends the call and puts the phone down.

BADDA
Your ass?
FACE
My ass.

TEASER SCENE FOUR
INT. GRAMERCY APARTMENT DAY
BADDA and FACE ENTER a large but run-down apartment. The current
base is an old apartment building on the edge of Koreatown, its
once-large condominium-sized rooms clumsily cut up into smaller
apartments.
ROBERTA BOBBY COLLIER is seated in a leather lounge chair in
the corner, looking out the window. She waits for BADDA and FACE
to sit down across from her before speaking.
BOBBY
Im going to let this mornings carelessness slide this time.
FACE
Thank you.
BOBBY
Not only because you got away, but because weve got more
important things to focus on right now.
FACE
Yea, like making money.
BADDA
You got us a new gig, Colonel?
BOBBY
Looks that way. Only problem is, it doesnt look like itll pay
much. But some things are more important than money.

FACE
The hell. Like what?
BOBBY
A brother in arms. Hes an Army veteran living in Valencia, and
hes been handed a death sentence from the CIA. Luckily, a tech
vet in D.C. with a conscience got wind of it. He told a friend of
the guy who lives in Montana, and that guys friend contacted us
for help.
FACE
For free?
BOBBY
Put a price on a life. Go ahead.
FACE
Its the CIA well be going up against. Its not some Army
Colonel with a vengeance. What about our lives, Bobby?
BADDA
Face has a point. Were barely making to get through the day
without detection. If we put ourselves out there for something
this high-profile-BOBBY
I know. But I couldnt say no on this one. (pause) We have to
get him underground as fast as possible. The orders are for him
to be taken care of tomorrow. But were not waiting for tomorrow.
Were getting him out of there today.
FACE
If hes even still alive. Youre thinking that tomorrows date is
a smokescreen, arent you?
BOBBY
If hes not already dead, yea.
BADDA
You want me to go and get Murdock?
BOBBY
You and Murdock have to leave and fly to Montana. I dont know
how secure the message was from D.C. to Helena, much less from
there to here. Its not worth just sitting around, hoping that
this guy will be all right.

BADDA
Roger.
FACE
So who are we going to rescue, Colonel?
BOBBY
The Montana guy is an Army vet by the name of Templeton Peck.
Name ring a bell?
FACE
(Smiles) Yea, its my namesake. (smile fades) Wait. Then that
means the guy in Valencia is
BOBBY
None other than the legendary H.M. Murdock.
BADDA
So whos gonna tell OUR Murdock that her grandfathers in
trouble?
BOBBY
Well, Sergeant, you two do have a long flight across the country
ahead of you. I'm sure it'll come up.

BADDA sneers. BOBBY smiles.
