Fortune and survey partner Hey Group established the World's Most Admired Companies ranking. To
arrive at the top 50, 4,170 executives, directors and securities analysts were asked to select 10 companies
they admired the most. Anyone could vote for any company in any industry. Apple ranked no. 1 in the
Fortune 2016 Most Admired Companies and Google takes the no. 2 spot.
Alphabet Inc. (commonly known as Alphabet, and frequently informally referred to as
Google) is an American multinational conglomerate created in 2015 as the parent company of
Google and several other companies previously owned by Google. Since its founding, Google has
been firmly committed to active
philanthropy and to addressing the
global challenges of climate change,
education and poverty alleviation.
Since 2007, Google also jump-started a
series of social initiatives in China.
Google hopes that by leveraging their
own strengths and resources incountry, they will raise awareness of
the importance of corporate
philanthropy, and encourage society to
participate in and contribute to the
development of social responsibility.
As I read Googles charitable works,
my favorite is the Google Grants. It is
an in-kind donation program awarding free AdWords advertising to select charitable organizations. Since its
inception, we have supported hundreds of organizations in advocating and promoting their causes, from
animal rights and literacy to abandoned children and HIV education.

Room to Read, which educates children in Vietnam, Nepal, India and Cambodia, attracted a sponsor
who clicked on its AdWords ad. He has donated funds to support the education of 25 girls for the
next 10 years.
The US Fund for UNICEFs e-commerce site, Shop UNICEF, has experienced a 43 percent increase in
sales over the previous year.
CoachArt, supporting children with life-threatening illnesses through art and athletics programs, has
seen a 60 to 70 percent increase in volunteers.
In the aftermath of the Sichuan earthquake in China, Google Grants also supported the China Red
Cross, China Charity Federation, China Youth Development Foundation, China Children and
Teenagers Fund and other organizations with free in-kind advertising of over 6 million RMB. Now,
Jet Lis One Foundation and his umbrella organizations have also started using Google Grants to
promote the cause of corporate philanthropy.

As our world is experiencing extreme global warming and climate change, Google is creating a better
web that's better for the environment. They are greening their company by using resources efficiently and
supporting renewable power. That means when you use Google products, youre being better to the
environment.
Rapid growth since incorporation has triggered a chain of products, acquisitions and partnerships
beyond Google's core search engine (Google Search). It offers online productivity software (Google Docs)
including email (Gmail), a cloud storage service (Google Drive) and a social networking service (Google+).
Desktop products include applications for web browsing (Google Chrome), organizing and editing photos
(Google Photos), and instant messaging and video chat (Hangouts). The company leads the development
of the Android mobile operating system and the browser-only Chrome OS for a class of netbooks known as
Chromebooks and desktop PCs known as Chromeboxes. Google has moved increasingly into
communications hardware, partnering with major electronics manufacturers in the production of its "highquality low-cost" Nexus devices. In 2012, a fiber-optic infrastructure was installed in Kansas City to
facilitate a Google Fiber broadband service.

The challenges of the world to fast growing Alphabet Company are no longer a challenge to them. In
fact, they are more than prepare for the new challenges that may arise.

Apex Mining Co., Inc. (the Company)

was incorporated and registered with the
Philippine Securities and Exchange
Commission on February 26, 1970 primarily
to carry on the business of mining, milling,
concentrating, converting, smelting, treating,
preparing for market, manufacturing, buying,
selling, exchanging and otherwise producing
and dealing in gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc
brass, iron, steel and all kinds of ores, metals
and minerals. The Company listed its shares in the Philippine Stock Exchange on March 7, 1974 and
attained the status of being a public company under the symbol APX.
The Company was adjudged first runner up in the category Best Mining Forest in the Philippines for 2007
during the PMSEA Convention in Baguio City.
The Companys efforts towards responsible mining and environmental protection from the mountains to
the sea have proved highly effective. Programs have included the establishment of an AMCI demonstration
farm, which serves as the source of seedling dispersal in the community and a hub of intensive
reforestation research on the mangium (indigenous acacia) species. The Company established a satellite
nursery in the coastal community of the Province of Compostela Valley to propagate mangroves in
compliance with the Memorandum of Agreement covering the Adopt a Mangrove Forest project that AMCI
entered into with the Department of the Environment and Natural Resources in June, 2007.
The Companys social responsibility towards the surrounding communities has been its constant priority
ever since its mine development in the area began.
In 2007, infrastructure was built that caters to the needs of the community. Projects include the Teresa
Elementary School, the Indigenous Peoples Office, the Road Maintenance Program, relocation sites with
amenities, and assistance in the electrification of the Biucadan area.
Activities organized for different sectors of the impact communities include: the SPES program to train the
youth for employment; the Inter-faith Forum to facilitate productive exchange of views; the provision of
technical assistance to the Indigenous Peoples on their Ancestral Domain Sustainable Programs; and
coordination with local government on the implementation of its development programs.
Apex Mining social develop activities are guided by mutually agreed Social Development Management
Programs which focuses on health, sanitation, safety and livelihood. In 2009, the company donated 10
houses and constructed a multi-purpose hall in support of Gawad Kalinga. It also donated an amount of
P550,000 to insure clean water for the homeowners.
According to Inquirer.net, Apex Mining Co. Inc. (APX) reported a sharp turnaround in its earnings for the
first nine months of 2015 thanks to higher gold and silver output, despite continued weakness at its
subsidiary. For the three quarters ending Sept. 30, 2015, the companys consolidated net income
amounted to P76.4 million. This represents a turnaround of P437.4 million from the consolidated net loss of
P361.0 million reported in the same period in 2014.
