Content Knowledge

Online Blackboard Class

The class was created on Blackboard an online learning site for teachers to use for
student interaction. The class was created on July 9th, 2016 in EDU 360 at Spring Arbor
University. The class was designed with a specific lesson during a unit in social studies for 5th
grade students. The assignment was based on the standard 5 U3.1.6 Identify the role that key
individuals played in leading the colonists to revolution, including George Washington,Thomas
Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Patrick Henry, Samuel Adams, John Adams, and Thomas Paine.
The students researched the individuals and reported back to their classmates in a discussion
board post facts and even replied to other classmates. The students were able to accomplish an
assignment and test using this online learning site.
This assignment fits under content knowledge for the state standards. The students are
able to use the online class to accomplish an assignment and test based on the GCLE 5-U3.1.6.
The standard was used for the basis of the assignment and class and the lesson showed the
content.
The online format was successful in making folders for each part of one assignment for
the students to access. The test was easy to access as well as the discussion board. The
improvements to be made will be more web resources for the students to use for research. I
would like to have a link for each individual that lead the colonists to the revolution for the
students to use as resources.
