Born in Switzerland, 1904-1908 years as a primary school teacher. Deeply
influenced by Fowler and the teaching method, and then deeply in the field
of psychology.

Education
Itten asked the students to do the two exercises are particularly important.
The first exercises require students to play all texture, graphics, color, and
color, not only do contact planar, three-dimensional practice.

Second exercises require the use of prosodic lines to analyze the works of
art, in order to enable students to grasp the intrinsic spirit and performance
of the original work.

Bauhaus has just been established, Gropius began to recruit staff. This is a
very difficult work, because of financial constraints, and the task of
education reform is very special. Therefore, such as how to choose the
appropriate education personnel become problems they are most concerned
about, in 1919 to recruit the first batch of three teachers, they are Jhat
Marcos, Li Ang Feininger and Johannes Itten.

After internal differences with Walter Gropius, Itten left the Bauhaus in
March 1923.

ITTEN'S COLOR CONTRASTS

Johannes Itten was one of the first people to define and identify
strategies for successful color combinations. Through his research he
devised EIGHT methodologies for coordinating colors utilizing the
hue's contrasting properties.

ITTEN'S COLOR CONTRASTS

1.THE CONTRAST OF SATURATION

The contrast is formed by the

juxtaposition of light and dark
values and their relative saturation.

2.THE CONTRAST OF LIGHT AND DARK

values. This could be a
monochromatic composition.

Influence
Itten's work on color is also said to be

an inspiration for seasonal color

analysis. Itten had been the first to
associate color palettes with four types
of people, and had designated those
types with the names of seasons. His
studies of color palettes and color
interaction directly influenced the Op
Art movement and other color
abstraction base movements.
