Formative Assessment
The students will be given a quiz. The quiz will be over one-step, one-variable
equations. The quiz will be five questions. They will be multiple choice. I will grade
the students on showing work, as well as having the correct choice. If no work is
shown, they will have half of their points taken off. The students may use scratch
paper, but when they are done with it, they will staple it to the quiz to turn it in
together. They will have eight minutes to finish the quiz. This is the assessment I am
using.

Summative Assessment
For this assessment, we will be doing an end-of-unit project. During this unit, the
student will have to collect different problems. They will then use these problems to
create a story. The equations must be used to tell a story. You will explain how the
story and problem relate, or how you can use the problem to solve the story. The
student will use pictures to help tell the story, and explain how to work out the
problems. The student must also include manipulatives in a baggy, and attach it, so
that anyone reading their book can solve the problems inside it. The problems will
include one-step, one-variable equations. The equations will be addition,
subtraction, multiplication, and division. There will be at least one of each type of
equation.
